To me its a light brown, not quite whiskey, but not near cigar. I'm not sure where the "red" comes from, though when i first started getting into Ravello, before I bought my LWBs, I saw a lot of red.

Here were my 9E LWB I sold after realizing they were too big:

    and my 9D Ravello LWB:

9d's were significantly more red. But compared to #4:

Those are VERY nice, and I don't like PTBs, but I'd grab those. Is that cigar? You've got the bug man. I know that some have issues with Alden, but their make ups meet a certain aesthetic that no one else can match. When you weigh the two, find a last and fit that works, nothing can top them. Then of course you have that great feeling of getting a shoe that you know will be coveted and rarely released, so weirdo's like us can fawn over 'em. Brilliant business model if you ask me...

    Yes, cigar.

You might be right. : ) Not sure about lasts and sizes yet, I'll try some out next month.

Edit: those PTB's are not mine, btw. Just something I'm starting to like the esthetics of.

hmm, any angle really. i guess any angle that kind of highlights the bulbous/weird facets that everyone always complains about? to my eyes, they look awesome, so i am really curious to see what it is about the modified last that gets so many complaints.

Help! I have a pair of Ravello Tassle Loafers in 11.5D for a few more days to decide if they are big enough. I normally wear an 11.5E in Aldens. I know I should get an 11.5E but they just aren't to be found anywhere. Do folks think the 11.5D might "stretch" enough to be comfortable? I know people will react, "well, how tight are they?" My answer is that they are snug. I tried them on with thin socks and they are a little better, but still, snug. (snug sounds better to me than tight.)

I am really looking to see if anyone has had experience with Alden Horween loafers and if they experienced enough of a stretch after wearing them? I love Ravello and these are the only ones I could find in any style even close to my size. I tried the same shoe in an 11E, but they were painfully tight, er ah, snug.

    Any advice?

Got my #8 longwings from NRO today. I'm definitely the first to try them on, they fit, they look great, and they were $516. Thanks again to whoever posted this deal.
