For me it was next day after shipping. I paid for the 2-day delivery, but I'm also 50 miles outside Boston where they shipped from. They did spend 2.5 days "being assembled".

Yes, telephone would be best. The customer service is excellent. You can also contact Alden of San Francisco. They can get you the same shoes. My order from Alden of DC was shipped from stock at the San Francisco store. They have special make ups which do not appear on the website.

As jerrybrowne mentioned, they will loosen up. Wear them around the house for a while and see what you think. Mine opened up after about three wears.

No worries, to each their own. IMO, modified is a much nicer, sleeker last than trubalance and if I could I'd trade all my Indies on TB for a modified last. That picture probably doesn't do the boot justice

    Sounds about right for UPS

Give it a day and see if the delivery date is updated.

I spray them with Saphir spray. When they're really dirty, you can use suede shampoo (Saphir/LCA for instance). And I use a regular shoe brush (not a suede brush) to remove dust and dirt every now and then.

    Trig,
My first pair of Alden was the LHS. Classic loafers. I really prefer them to the PTB.
If I were you, I'll definitely purchase them but it depends on the way you intend to use your shoes (work or weekend, etc.).
    Hope it helps.

LHS if you are a khaki/shorts guy and PTB if you rock a lot of denim and or suits.

Obviously they both can be used for any outfit, thats just my $0.02

I'm prob in the minority, but I feel loafers aren't worth the big bucks. They're a casual shoe and not extremely versatile. Not that they don't have their place, the navy suede tassels are sweet for summer, but you can't dress em up. PTB can be dressed up or down, justifying more the 500+ price tag.

Is the Mac break-in method applicable for all shoes and boots? Or cordovan only?
