ehh i'm horribly biased, i **hate** the look of balmorals with jeans. too far apart on the dressiness spectrum, kinda like wearing some rugged mountaineering boots with a tuxedo.

Hrm, I like that juxtaposition though! Dressy, dark denim - not stacked like my Skulls or APCs - I totally do it. I think the PTB is a pretty simple choice though, I'm eyeing a pair of Color 8 PTBs this very moment...

Must have had plenty of these in stock, my card charged and no "out of stock" e-mail was sent. Although it will be 24 hours under "being assembled", so we will see.

I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to dress shoes so take my advice with a grain of salt. But I would say go with the D if it fits well in the heel. CXL will always stretch in the toe box, and the last thing you want is your heel slipping around causing blisters and what not.

+1 @ AnOxymoron, CXL stretches a bit, but I wouldn't depend on it for sizing.

Calidist, have you ever tried boots on the Barrie? It sounds like it could work for you - you can give them a shot in the 8.5D width, they tend to have a higher instep so they will feel much better right off the bat. I can tell you from experience that CXL does stretch but like I mentioned, I wouldn't depend on it for sizing as it could vary. Is the length on the 8.5D OK though? The overall boot will loosen up as your foot begins to sink into the footbed over time - I think the instep will stretch a bit, but if it is very tight right now I'd approach with caution. If you were buying the 405's I can tell you those don't stretch very much if at all (from experience).

    Same day.

It's of course going to depend on which model you're ordering, I got the #8 gunboats which are an Alden staple. As others have bemoaned, the more unique models are likely to not be processed as quickly or even backlogged

    hard to say
its the nst, which, while a staple, they have listed as a special makeup.
    who knows.
