I have the impression that the black shell LWB is somewhat less common than #8, which is obviously a standard Alden catalog item. Is that totally incorrect?

I think a lot of people tell themselves "If I'm gonna get black shoes, I may as well just get calf.".

What they don't realize though is the black shell requires tons less work and maintenance to be shiny and won't look all cracked in a few years either.

I like my pair of black shell BB PTBs quite a lot and would definitely not trade it for a calf version.

Cigar Shell LHS arrived today. Filling in my summer casual shoe rotation quite well this week with the Alden tan suede chukka pick-up tonight as well.

I've ordered Aldens from them twice. No problems at all. True, the chromexcel Indys took awhile, but it was when they first came out and everyone was waiting for months to get them. So worth it.

Now that I look at the reviews, I didn't return either order, so I can't speak for their customer service in that regard.

Are these from Alden of DC? I'm waiting on my pair. Not sure which I like better, the antique edging or the darker ones you have?? I think the darker edging looks more traditional/classic. They are stunning... hope mine look as good. Enjoy!

Thank you! Yeah these are from Alden of DC. I completley agree about the trim. I love the classic look of these, but the antique edging is awesome as well. I thought I would be disappointed with the darker look of the more recent ravello runs but these have such a rich deep red color that I was really surprised by. Plus now I have an excuse to get some whiskey. Anyone selling a 9D? [IMG]

Been on pins and needles waiting on a post to this effect. Feeling much better now. I'm thinking these orders are going to go through, especially knowing there was 25% off code earlier in the month. Glad this happened when it did. I'm not one that can just buy Aldens on the fly without some meditation and saving a bit of coin.

Went with the suede chukka (after decided between that and the snuff) after suggestions from everyone here (and my girlfriend). Hope they fit. I'm an 8E in Indys. Figured everyone says go TTS on the Leydon so ordered a 8.5E.

Another tip of the cap to the guy that posted the coupon code.

WW! What a bad time not to have a card to buy things with. (I had to cancel because of fraud.)

Does NRO do sales often? 2 in one month? What?

I'm going to be very surprised if NRO really has all these shoes stocked in all the sizes in multiple widths. Guess we'll find out. Best of luck to everyone who ordered.

Pulled the trigger on a pair of #8 Indy's. Prepared for it not to go through, with all the people jumping on them, even if orders do go through sizing is probably going to be an issue.
