Went by the Alden Shop in SF today. There's some cigar shell captoes on sale for $399, but not in my wide-foot size. Also spotted some #8 chukkas w/commando soles on clearance, again, not in my size.
What sizes for the Chukkas and how much were they?

you guys should try navy shoe cream. i darkened up some light brown AEs to a nice rich dark brown color. it doesn't take many coats of cream to get something that looks nice.

Those pics aren't up to my usual standards but I have to rely on my friends for cameras.

Damn, I was just informed that the regular Indy's are on backorder for 3 months. They said that for the past 6 months to a year or so, the demand has been real high on them so I guess they can thank SF for that.

I was hoping to get them by this weekend too.

Those look great! I have the Ultimate Indy's from Leather Sole Hawaii and worn them almost everyday since this past December and they look almost like yours. I brush them every now and then and have treated them with dark brown shoe cream.

Just curious, but is this new?
I've never seen it before and it looks like it has crepe sole?
It is also cheaper at $280 retail, well cheaper by Alden standards I guess.

hey, those are not "new" per say as I've seen very similar pairs before, but if they are being made as part of a standard stock, then I guess you can say they are new. Where did you see them for $280 I am curious, I've been after shoes like that for a while.

    nvm, found them on shoemart

^^^ If they offer it in a darker brown, I may purchase a pair as I have been looking for some rubber soled boots and since the Indy's has a 3 months wait.

Ludey, next time we are going I'll let you know. We can meet up at my place, down some carbombs, and you can ride down there with us and I'll get some shell cordo Aldens.

Not sure how the hell I keep missing replies to my posts....

Yeah man, let me know. Sorry I couldn't make it last time, I have an oddball schedule. I work the entire weekend and beginning of the week, and the rest of the time I'm at school. My girlfriend hates me for it.

Is it a rarity for a cobbler to be able to mimic the Alden heel, leather with rubber toplift? The claim that I've heard is that it is a laser cut. I saw a fantastic web site of a cobbler in Tokyo who routinely replaces such heels exactly and his seemed prebuilt. Your advice is appreciated!

I've had mine reheeled 4 times. All the cobbler has done is pull off the rubber heal and added a new piece of rubber that is the proper thickness. Unless you wear into the stack there is no need to replace the entire heel.

One piece of preventative maintenance I have done with mine is install toe taps as I wear the soles out there on most of my shoes and don't want to deal with a total resole.
