I went to work last Friday in my LS tanker boots.  Afternoon temp was about 95 Fahrenheit.  Definitely warm, but otherwise OK.  The 1494s are good when I have to be outside.

closerlook, the aforementioned 1494s were ordered from Alden of DC and shipped from Alden of SF (ironic, eh?).

well, they do that. just call alden of dc and explain, if you find you want something from there. Kathy can get it done.

I see a lot of you guys in boots lately...I love em, but find wearing them in temps above 65, a bit "heavy". Anybody else feel this way about the boots?

I am the same way, that is why I have one pair of boots and am debating on getting the LS CXL Jumpers when they come in. We have a short cold period in the Charlotte, so I find that my one pair of boots has only been worn maybe 5 or 6 times. I may skip them and get the Meermin double monks.

I'm a transplant from the superdenim section on superfuture, so boots just kinda go hand in hand with my raw denim. I just love the aesthetics of boots and haven't found that a couple inches of exposed ankle really provide any cooling benefits in hot weather.

Where do you get the Meermin double monks?

same here. and cordovan is even more punishing during higher temperatures.

I know this is the Alden thread, but regarding boots in hot weather, when you need boots for cold mornings and hot afternoons, what do you do? Especially when you still wear your boots in the evenings when it gets cold again?

I spoke to Vass about it and we decided, for exactly this reason, that we would use camel leather as an inner liner for the sock of a pair of Cordovan boots which I ordered MTO last year. I had to source the leather myself though, and I got it from an Australian supplier.

The difference is absolutely amazing.

Vass built the inner lining with a double lined stitched camel hide. The double hide is two fairly thin pieces of camel hide stitched together to form a really soft padding. The result is one heck of a soft inner, with nice tough but supple cordovan outer and promise you, nothing is cooler on your foot than camel hide inner lining in the heat, just like they used to use in old military desert campaign boots for the French Foreign Legion and the British Forces in Egypt and Palestine way back when.

If I could find somebody to change my Aldens to incorporate a camel leather sock lining I think I will have found my perfect boot.

I don't doubt that going down one full size on the Truebalance will work for some, but it seems like an awful lot.

Everyone is on the nuts of the #4 WT Boot these days (as they should be) but those navy tassel are outstanding. (I applaud the camo short paring as well)
