Yeah, agree with this. J.Crew will always let you return within 60 days if you buy them online.

Yeah, chorizo. As I've mentioned previously, I ordered four pair of Indys in different size/color combinations. I settled on the 403. So I returned the others and asked for that boot. And I received an email back saying they didn't have it. I ordered two pairs of loafers after that and was told that my order wouldn't be filled.

It's not illegal. Many big box retailers track returns and black ball people who exceed a predetermined threshold. If I had a stocking Alden dealer that I could reach without getting on an airplane, this wouldn't be a problem.

if you call Kathy in DC she would probably take care of you.
she is better about CS than they are in SF.

I see a lot of you guys in boots lately...I love em, but find wearing them in temps above 65, a bit "heavy". Anybody else feel this way about the boots?

Definitely know what you mean. I generally just suck it up and wear them anyway, ha ha.

I went to work last Friday in my LS tanker boots. Afternoon temp was about 95 Fahrenheit. Definitely warm, but otherwise OK. The 1494s are good when I have to be outside.

closerlook, the aforementioned 1494s were ordered from Alden of DC and shipped from Alden of SF (ironic, eh?).

Yeah my #4 boots have been tried on once and are just sitting in my closet. Not gonna get much of a chance to wear them in LA neither

No disrespect intended to Norcal, but the Barrie last is notorious to Alden enthusiasts for being at least 1/2 size too big.

The frequency of sizing down 1/2 size from TTS is sufficient to justify a strong recommendation to new buyers that, in the absence of opportunity to fit, they should buy 1/2 size down from TTS in the Barrie and 1 full size down in the Trubalance.

However, in Norcal's defence, it is obviously better to delay a purchase until you have had the opportunity to fit the shoe yourself, although when promotional sales and other buying opportunities present small windows of opportunity to make a rapid or impulse purchase, well then time is not always an option. In these cases calculate 1/2 down for Barrie and 1 down for Trubalance as a rule of thumb.

I've officially retired my cigar captoes for the summer... I will wear cordo and cxl chukkas, and I may wear my whiskey Indys(they are a springy color) but definitely, this is the season for suede makeups, loafers, etc

I'll add that chukka boots in cordovan and chromexcel fit a bit looser, which I think may be beneficial in the summer (more circulation). High lace boots fit tighter and hotter
