Having the market effectively cornered on all things Alden, McArthur is the honorary uncle to the rest of us in this regard. It's a title of respect.

Someone posted last week about the Roden Gray sale. I impulsively bought the navy suede PTBs in size 9.5D. I really need 9.5E so will probably return them unless someone here wants to purchase them. I was charged $398 USD for them. If anyone wants them let me know. Would love to find someone here in NYC to avoid mailing them.

Here's a picture from LS of what they look like.

    Oh my god. Oh lord.
So before this, I had 2 pairs of Aldens, both Barrie, but one pair is the chukkas, and the other is a size and a half too large (don't ask). Well, you know the "Barrie chukkas are not like other Barrie shoes" story? Fuck it's true. I didn't think it could possibly be as drastic a difference, but it is. It's like a different last, comparing the chukkas to these. All the problems I thought I had with the Barrie last are...gone. The heel doesn't feel as big; the toe box feels, actually, a little wider. Exactly what I needed. This is beautiful. I feel like the world has opened up a little. Relatedly, this is terrible, terrible news for my bank account.

Oh, and they smell like the nectar of the gods. Thanks, Epaulet.

(I'd take better pictures of the shoes, but it's raining outside right now. Soon enough.)

May I ask the members on here who have worn both Plaza and Grant lasts to chime in on sizing comparison? Thanks.

Been on a recent post-graduation buying spree. Got the #4 Wingtip boots from Shoemart, BB Black Fleece Longwings (the shoe I've been wanting for forever) and a pair of Ralph Lauren Marlows. Ravello Plain Toe on Modified is the last pair. Some photos showing the different colors:

Thanks, pretty much the happiest I've been in a while. Got home last night to get the #4s and marlows then went to SF Black Fleece today and got the lwb I've been wanting for forever.

Does anyone own the 403s and Clark's DB?

I am looking to compare sizes for owners of both.

I know to size down by 1/2 a size vs. normal shoe size, but I 've grown to love the clarks in size 9 and i looking for a similar fit.

    Thanks.

If anyone has the Alden Ravello Short Wing in a size 8D (brand new and unworn) please PM me and I will seriously offer to pay more than the retail price.

You should call Leather Soul. They apparently have a few in stock. Whoever got the 10D before I could call today, congrats. I'm jealous, big-time! May just have to settle for the LWB...

I have the J-Crew indys (which I assume fit the same as 403s, can't see why they wouldn't) and Clarks DBs. I wear a 10.5 US in both. I usually wear a size 11 in most things. I sized down half for both of these. Both fit me perfectly.
