They occasionally announce pre-orders on their website like:

Thanks, Uncle! I will enjoy these boots immensely I am sure.

Good look for you...we have good taste if I do say so myself. Milkshake indys too? Wow, that's a big week! Look forward to pics of those guys.

some of Uncle Mac's Aldens are 10-15 years old. Pay close attention to his pics and the pristine condition.

I started as a walk in customer, but I have done all of my recent orders via email or phone. Pre-orders are posted occasionally on the Shop Talk Blog such as this one

    http://leathersoulhawaii.com/2012/01/03/alden-pre-order-2/

I got my Kudu Indys early because I happened to call on the day they arrived (about a day before they dropped on the website). That was blind luck, though.

I am sure a lot of guys have me beat on this, but my oldest pair in rotation is entering it's 12th year of service. The pic isn't great, but here is a link to a photo of them: http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/3899491039/

When I picked up my Cigar LWBs, one of the main selling points for convincing my wife to part with the money was, "but hon - I'll be wearing these shoes to our daughter's high school graduation!"

    Daughter is 2.

Nice looking boots! Not a fan of that last, however. Kind of pointy.

EDIT: +1 for speed hooks, though!

Yeah, it's just boggling to understand their business plan. They market themselves as a brick and mortar store, i.e. they claim they aren't an online retailer.

Yet here we are, ordering online and preordering online....

If I remember you have to fill out an order form and fax it or order over the phone so it's not really online retail in the strictest sense.

Even if they do "market themselves" as "a brick and mortar store", it seems more accurate to say they "are" brick and mortar stores.

And although it may be possible to read the phrase "brick and mortar store" as a claim not to be an online retailer, I have always taken it to mean that LS is not "only" or even "primarily" an online shop.

I quite like it. It looks similar to the one for J Gilbert but that's on the plaza last which I prefer over the grant by a tad.

I don't think that's the point furo was trying to make. But, yes, there isn't an online check out per se. I went to the Beverly Hills store first. I met Joe and tried on some shoes. A couple weeks later I called in an order which was filled from LSW. After that, I happened to inquire about the Kudu Indy which had just arrived as a restock. I also inquired about a re-order on the suede PTB which LSW happened to have in my size (I thought it was sold out).

So, they are a B&M shop. They like to meet their customers. BUT they will take orders by phone or email. However, I think they frown on returns or exchanges for size issues if you haven't been in for a fitting. I get that message from their Order Page ( http://leathersoulhawaii.com/ordering-info-sizing/ ).

I sent an order form one time. Once I was "on file", subsequent orders required a short email or phone call only. No regrets so far.

thanks for the sizing advice. i'm really hoping the 7D barrie fits as these blue suede lwb's will be perfect to wear from now til early fall. it would be a shame to send them back since it looks like most sizes have sold out (including 7.5D).

for sizing comparison w/o socks, i have quoddy canoe suede boat shoes in 7D and they fit perfectly.
