IIRC the only difference is the commando vs leather oak sole. I have the latter from NRO and you can find my photos in this thread, posted a few last thurs or fri

I guess it all depends on how you walk but I can tell that I am "scraping" the very edge of the toe / edge trim. It's probably because I am not picking up my feet as much as I should. I'm sure the experts here can chime in.

Either one is great - let this photo though be your guide.

^ niiice. Is that the cigar w/ light trim? Exactly the one I was leaning towards. Was thinking whiskey, but my wife overwhelmingly said the cigar looked better. Is there any consensus on which one is more versatile?

    Yes sir.

Just admit to the fact now that you'll eventually complete a shell rainbow, and it makes the choice easier.

lol, deep down in my heart, I know that to be true...

...but then the next question is...if LWB is taken, what style goes well with whiskey shell?

    +1

Whiskey PTB is possibly my favorite, even over LWB

whiskey captoe boot would be tremendous, though. who makes one?

Some photos of my unlined #8 PTBs. These are extremely comfortable, which I attribute to the unlined shell and the single leather sole. The single sole also really changes the profile, in my opinion and makes them rather sleek. I think they also creased differently than lined shell, more lines than rolls. Perhaps those with unlined LHSs can comment. I sized these at 10.5 instead of my normal 11 and they are working very nicely for me.

Also, I just pre-ordered the 9 eyelet #4 cap toe from ShoeMart. The nice lady on the phone said they are currently expecting them in June. Hardly need these, but I figured there's a strong likelihood that I'll see photos of them here in a few months and wonder why I didn't act when I could.

not new at all. These were tan cap toes until i got impatient with the color and had them turned to brown at a local shop. which is lovely. the previous color really adds some depth to the added color.

What last are those on? Looks like the toe is a little chiseled, so maybe not our good and steady friend Barrie, then? I'm a fan of the cap toe.

Those are on modified last 8 eee. so it's a little bit odd in terms of sizing and last. they work well and are very comfortable. i wear a 8.5d Barrie... but painfully.
