Yeah I ordered the wingtip. May get the captoe as well but I'm trying to limit spending at the moment until I actually start receiving paychecks

cool. i put mine in on Weds.
Scott (i think that was his name) told me that my size has been reserved but there was no confirmation number yet so until i know that my pair has been ordered/accounted for, its a waiting game.
let the 5-6 month wait begin....

I called this afternoon and spoke to Ed. He confirmed the Captoe is: Barrie, 360 degree split/reverse welt, double leather sole, speed hooks and non-perforated cap toe. I was able to get in on the preorder for the Wingtip #4 in a 9e. Very excited about that. The Captoe sounds lovely as well, will try to get in on that order too. Thinking perhaps I have too many shoes/boots now.

I take it that color #4 doesn't come around very often?

How much wider is 10E than 10D for indy 405 (always trubalance last?) in the heel and wide part of foot?

And I swear J. Crew must only sell seconds... they always arrive with marks or scuffs.

VLSI, can't say exactly. I just tried on four pairs of Indys in various sizes (10.5C/10.5D/11B/11C). You'll notice the difference going up one width if that means anything to you. The boots are meant to be roomy, I think.

Well I'm normally an 11/44 in all my sneakers. Tried on a 10.5D in the Barrie last and that seemed to fit pretty well. Ordered a pair of 10D indy's to try on and they seem just a pinch tight in the heel and outer toe areas, but they seem like they should be long enough. As long as the difference isn't too severe I'm pretty sure I can swing the 10E.

Where did you go to try them? I only knew of JCrew carrying them other than the nicer online shoe web stores, and they only have D width at that.

Doubtful, because not many people are going to see this abomination.

I ordered four pair online at Alden Shop of San Francisco (403, 404, 405). Tried them all on and settled on the 10.5D (leaves a little extra room if I want to wear boot socks). Sent them back and asked for a 403 in 10.5D. Of course, they didn't have it in stock. But I received a refund the same day they got the boots back. Return shipping was nominal.

I don't have any Alden dealers in my area, not for hundreds of miles.
