Just wondering if anyone's come across any shoes on the Barrie last with a 270 degree welt? I've seen the pair below that LeatherSoul did last year but they're no longer available. Other than the plain toe (which I already own), are there any other options (calf or cordovan) on the Barrie that would work as a dress shoe?

The big miss with the Leffot spectator longwings is that they used white calf instead of suede. I prefer non-gunboat specs.

    I found this rather amusing:

eBay Alden shell cordovan tassel loafers

The seller is listing them as "NEW" because he had them recrafted.

So I sent a note to the seller and he replies "well I'm confident they are new due to the process that Alden uses for restoration, and if you don't like it, don't bid."

What makes it even funnier is the second to last pic shows a clearly torn upper, or a gash of some sort in the shell .... lulz....

Not sure when the next Alden design contest might be, but here are some thoughts on slight changes to some classics:

NST blucher (similar to style #962) in Alden Walnut Brown Calf (aberdeen last), double leather or oiled leather sole

PTB in dark brown calf (barrie last), double leather, oiled leather, or commando sole

Medallion cap toe oxford (similar to style #911) in dark brown calf (hampton last)

what did you order? depends on the last. if grant, plaza or one of the smaller lasts you will probably be OK. if barry or trubalance you most likely need to size down.

I'm intrigued, though I definitely don't need another LWB right now and I'd prefer fabric, canvas I'd guess, for the white.

Forgive me for not knowing, but does the contest prohibit shell cordovan? Not sure why you would design your dream Alden shoe/boot with calf. I'm new so pardon me if I am off.

Will the Alden #8 Brixtons ever be restocked or is that something that will need a pre-order in the future? Every time I look at them I want them more and more....

Sorry if it has been asked but I have too much on my plate at the moment to browse through page after page looking.

    Thanks.
