I have these too. Haven't worn them yet, they will be my go to spring cordovan shoes. Will wear with suits/casual fridays as well as denim/oxford shirts (likely pink or blue) in the spring. They look great, maybe even better than my color 4 Atoms

This is kind of my opinion - as far as "normal calf" goes, there are brands that do it better. For basic dress shoes (black and browns), Allen Edmonds calf appears to be as good as Alden. Obviously the British brand do calf way better than Alden does (at a higher price). The main exception to this is Alden's burnished tan, which looks great on the Obscura shoes, on Atoms, wingtips, etc.

Where Alden seems to excel is cordovan, chromexcel, suede, rough leathers like reverse chamios and kudu, the Indy brown calf, etc.

AE also offers a higher quality calf for $445 I believe. Don't think it's worth it, but they source the leather from a French tannery that does Louis Vitton fwiw

Any opinions on the creasing on these? I'm looking to pick-up off the market.

^ true... there's a clear difference in the depth of color seen in shell that calf can't display...

I don't have any Alden shells with a lot of wear yet, but here's some pics of my Vass whiskey shell ptbs after about two years (worn fairly sparingly):

Just wondering is there a list somewhere of all the different companies that have their own versions of Alden's (i.e. Blackbird, LeatherSoul, etc.)?

What killed me was seeing a pair of seconds for $400 gone right when I noticed it...oh what I'd do for a pair at that price
