I wear both 10D in Darlton and Barrie. The Darlton is definitely snugger than the Barrie in the same size, but the shoe fits and is comfortable after a wear or two. I was originally going to get 10.5D in the Darlton but a salesman told me to size down.

Forum consensus is to "size down" for the Darltons/Marlows, which (all else being equal) would imply that you should get an 8.5D if that is what you wear on Barrie last Aldens.

My experience is that this shoe is a tweener size for me, due to a "partial lining". I comfortably wear a 10D on the Barrie, and I have both Darltons and their boot sibling (Lindricks) in 10.5D. The fully lined Lindricks are perfect - I wouldn't change a thing. But the partially lined Darltons feel a touch large in the toebox. However they are fine in the heel, and I think a 10D would be too tight over my (high) insteps. So it is a compromise. If possible, I would suggest trying both an 8.5D and 9D.

    As always, YMMV...

I paid $710 for the LWB in Cigar. No tax, no shipping. SM had them for around $30 less, but with the lighter edge and I believe thye were out of nearly every size.

Some great pics getting thrown up in here.

FWIW, I usually wear a leather insole from Pedag in my shoes. My 8.5D Barrie Aldens fit me comfortably. I have the RL Marlow Wingtip in 8.5D as well and it fits a little looser in the heel for me with the toebox a little narrower than my Barrie-lasted Alden. Again YMMV.

I wear a 7 in both the Darlton and the Barrie. The Darlton is slimmer all over though. There's no comparison between the cavernous Barrie heel and the normal 325 lasted heel.

Which boot would be most versatile in terms of wearability in different settings (casual (think university setting) vs job/internship). The cap toe boot in #8 or the wing tip boot in #8.

Boots tend to be more casual in general. Captoes are more versatile whereas wingtips are traditional. I recommend both

Haha I'd love both. Which first considering for the next 2 and a half years (and probably grad school after that) I'll predominantly be in an informal setting.

These aren't Barrie last? Which last are they? Of course, they don't have the #8's in my size anyhow!!
