Just heard back from Kyle himself (love the personal touch)

He can build me a black chromexcel model - which i think is going to make this shoes amazing.

Kyle suggest I buy a 9.5 D; I'm a Alden Barrie 9 and a Aberdeen 9.5 - for reference.

I just asked him on how I can formally put in the order - i'll let you all know how it goes.

Hi, FYI one U.S. size is 1/3 of an inch. That should help with deciding how far to size down. But, from what I have read on these threads, the length is not so important as getting the widest part of your foot to correspond to the widest part of the shoe. Hope this helps.
Michael

This is incorrect. 1/2 size is actually about 3/16ths of an inch (~0.2 inches).

And once you get the details confirmed, you'll have the shoes in less than a month (they were quoting shipping two weeks from order over the summer, if that still holds...). Not, ahem, 9 to 12 months...

+1 for sure for Rancourt service and +1 for quality.

My experience with Rancourt and Kyle in particular was excellent.

This question come up so often, we should compile a list of different special shoes / boots that are regularly stocked by stores (as opposed to special orders)... For example

Cigar
Captoe boot, speed hooks, commando sole, grant last - Alden DC
"JC" Cigar Indy, speedhooks, commando sole, trubalance - Leffot NY

Ravello
"Day Tripper" captoe boot, speed hooks, waterlock sole, grant last - Leffot NY
"Brixton" wingtip boot, all eyelets, barrie last - Epaulet NY
"Hunting" captoe boot, speedhooks, waterlock sole, barrie last - Tassels HK

Brown Chromexcel
Indy boot,"dress" finishings, commando sole - Leather Soul Hawaii
Roy boot, plain toe, barrie last, crepe sole - Context

etc

Sorry for the nooby question, but how versatile are the wingtip boots with the commando sole? Are they good for rain/slush/snow? Just rain? Rain and slush?
