What size would I take in the Indy boots or unlined Chukka boots?

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Just took delivery of the unlined Chukkas from Epaulet and apart from completely loving them I can confirm that they fit totally true to size.

Chuck's are not a good reference so just forget about them.

The Nikes may help and by impulse I would say you would wear an 8.5 in the Turbulence and Barrie lasts. You should go to a shoe store and get measured and size a half size down from that. Do not tell them what size you wear. If they measure you at a 9 I am pretty confident that you can use this linked guide from Alden of Carmel to figure your different sizes on the different Alden Lasts.

I just got the "jumper boots" in black shell from LS and all I can say is WOW! They are my favorite Aldens. Forget patina, forget aging, these things are badass straight out of the box. If there was ever a boot that was better in black this has to be a contender. Think Grandpa meets Alex in A Clockwork Orange. Pics to follow. Thanks again Tom!

Picked up my first pair of new Aldens from The Shoemart - it was a great experience! I think they look even better in person than they did on the site photos. I believe they are a Shoemart exclusive design and they are on sale for quite a deal, hard to resist!

Hampton last
The shoemart site says they are brown but the description is more correct in "tangerine pebbled calfskin".

I algree, you are probably a 7/7.5 in the Barrie last, but try on a pair of allen emonds at the mall to get a better idea. You can just size down .5 from however those fit.

I think an 8.5 would be far too big. Getting measured would be a good start.

Anybody? Surely there is a better method than "I wear X in size 10, Y in size 9.5, Z in size 10.5, what size am I in Alden?". I'm pretty sure that I would take a 9E (a D might be too narrow) in the Barrie, but it would be nice to verify so I order the correct size.

Also, are there any brown calfskin boots with a leather or commando sole currently available?

I was considering
  • Epaulet Officer Indy
  • Winn Perry Straight Tip Boots
  • Leather Soul Vintage Indy (I like the nubuck)

Unfortunatley, these are all long gone or nonexistent in my size. The other options don't appeal to me:

  • Context Roy boot (not a fan)
  • AF88 (would prefer Barrie or TrueBalance last)
  • 403 Indy (don't want a rubber sole)
  • Orvis Aviator (rubber sole)

Are there any other options?

Hey PeterParker, take a look at Alden of Carmel's site, they have a couple brown boots to choose from:

As far as sizing, you can try physically measuring your foot and talking to a dealer. I have purchased shoes from both Alden of Carmel and The Shoe Mart and can say that they both have great customer service.

I believe Sherman Brothers always has a 10% off coupon. I think it is easier to get if you give them a call to order.
