For the gold or silver spot use a razor blade or knife edge on it. GENTLY scrape where the spot is, it will come off surprisingly easy. Any surface scuff that you make on the cordovan can be easily buffed out. I had a spot on a #8 NST that I used this trick and it worked great. BTW that's a great looking cigar Indy boot, wear them in health & congrats on your second little one. If it's a boy may I suggest Alden as a name.

If my wife even suspected that I named my boy after a shoe company I think she would kill me. No, his name is going to be Ellison. The kicker is that I have a little girl that just turned 1 three weeks ago. I do love those boots and may try to get the mark off later today. Thanks for the tip.

Beauts! Are those brand new? I'm hoping to darken mine up ever so slightly to make them more suitable with blue suits as well. Do you think that's a reasonable feat or should I just let time decide?

I'm thinking that no one should use razor blade and Alden in the same sentence let alone try using one as a tool to fix a spot. It's not going to end well in most cases.

Thanks. I purchased them in early summer, and I think it's best just wear 'em & enjoy 'em.

Normally I'd agree with you, but cordovan is resilient and the minor scrape will buff out. A picture says a thousand words…

    Hey quick question here,

I've got a pair of Cap Toe J. Crew Cordovan in #8 color. I just got a horsehair brush and was vigorously brushing away near the outside ankle area on my left boot and produces a really rough patch on there.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Are there any suggestions to get rid of this?

Here are a couple of pics of the area.

    Thanks!

Any snuff suede cap-toe boots incoming besides maybe J. Gilbert? Wonder if Leffot will re-order theirs.

I think J Gilbert is doing a snuff suede wing tip boot on commando sole. I'm looking for a snuff suede NST.
