There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Sold them (fit issues with that last). Have to try a wider width and see if that'll work :( That unlined chukka is one of the best shoes alden makes, in my opinion.

glad you got these dialed in, those look great. i'm still dialing in my barrie size as well. 8.5d in kudu chukkas and cap toe boots is fine, 8.5d in #8 lwb is fine with tongue pads, 8.5d in unlined suede ptb just doesn't work (see sig). next barrie shoe i try will be 8E.

are you still wearing the same indy's i sold to you a while back?

Hey guys, was in Alden DC earlier and they received what Kathy called a " windfall" of cigar and whiskey shell belts. Apparently they have 35mm ones along with a dressier version of each in sizes from 32-40. Go get 'em.

In case anybody is in Metro Detroit and is interested, there is an Alden trunk show coming up in Birmingham at the Claymore Shop next Saturday. I'd be checking it out, unfortunately I will be in NY for a wedding that day. I wonder if I can use this as an excuse to get out of attending this wedding where I will know exactly four people... one of whom is my toddler daughter. :paranoia:

They weren't in the system yet, so unclear on the price. The last round they had in shell in black and color 8 were $250ish. I did not get the impression this lot in the lighter colors would be on sale or anything. Kathy said she ordered the wider one in whiskey in conjunction with their whiskey Indys and they look great together. I was in a hurry when I popped in to pick up some shoes, so they called me after I left the store to see if I wanted to come back for a belt, haha.

Retail. But when I just called they didn't even have official prices for them. Just expecting them to be priced at whatever is the usual (check TSM for ballpark). They were so fresh they weren't even checked into the system yet.

Thanks. They did get a full shipment, however, it seems the word is out because it appears they only have a few sizes left: http://www.aldenshop.com/Store/DrawProducts.aspx?CategoryID=47&ParentID=94&PageID=&Action=

Thanks, so am I! I couldn't be happier. Probably went through 4 or 5 pairs on the barrie before I found just the right fit. I actually just bought the unlined snuff ptb's from Unionmade in a size 8D. Unionmade lists them as being on the barrie, but I think that is a mistake and they are actually on the Leydon because from my experience, 8D on the barrie has never worked for me.

In regard to the Indy boots, yup, still got them and still love them. I wear them fairly often. So thank you very much for my first pair of Aldens!

American LWB on a positively Panamanian morning here in NYC (humid, warm, raining). These held up nicely without an umbrella (I gave it to my wife).

Bryan from Leather Soul called with the insanely good news that I actually did NOT miss out when i called yesterday afternoon, and that the 10D Ravello Short Wings were mine for the taking. I am so beyond excited right now... it's the perfect shoe.

Now I guess I should sell these 10D Ravello Longwings - does any one know what to expect for the pair? Cared for like a Fabergé egg using the Mac Method[IMG], worn 20 times or so?

Having the market effectively cornered on all things Alden, McArthur is the honorary uncle to the rest of us in this regard. It's a title of respect.

Someone posted last week about the Roden Gray sale. I impulsively bought the navy suede PTBs in size 9.5D. I really need 9.5E so will probably return them unless someone here wants to purchase them. I was charged $398 USD for them. If anyone wants them let me know. Would love to find someone here in NYC to avoid mailing them.

Here's a picture from LS of what they look like.

    Oh my god. Oh lord.
So before this, I had 2 pairs of Aldens, both Barrie, but one pair is the chukkas, and the other is a size and a half too large (don't ask). Well, you know the "Barrie chukkas are not like other Barrie shoes" story? Fuck it's true. I didn't think it could possibly be as drastic a difference, but it is. It's like a different last, comparing the chukkas to these. All the problems I thought I had with the Barrie last are...gone. The heel doesn't feel as big; the toe box feels, actually, a little wider. Exactly what I needed. This is beautiful. I feel like the world has opened up a little. Relatedly, this is terrible, terrible news for my bank account.

Oh, and they smell like the nectar of the gods. Thanks, Epaulet.

(I'd take better pictures of the shoes, but it's raining outside right now. Soon enough.)
