I have only heard good things about B. Nelson but their version of the Alden commando sole isn't perfect IMO - I think it will be fine for a boot but for a shoe, even a "substantial" shoe like the LWB, it won't look great. Just my 2 cents...

Agree that their lug soles probably wouldn't go great on shoes, but I don't really like commando soles on shoes in general. They only look right on boots.

Just grabbed one of the last pairs of these shoes from Unionmade - nice shop with helpful people in SF.

You should notify Orvis that they are giving out incorrect information.
Were these a D width fitting? I grabbed the 10.5 but didn't check width first - I already have a 10E and will compare to see which is best fit but on the Brannock I'm a 11D.
    Thanks
I was going to try out the 10.5, but went with the 11s instead while thinking that they might be on the other last. 11 in Barrie works for me, and a 10.5D boot I have works but is a little tight (thin socks only). So I thought about the 10.5 shoe to give that a try. Interesting to hear you can go all the way down to 10E and still have enough room in the toe. I have to try a 10.5E someday, but on the other hand I'm not really sure I want to get attached to a size that's not easy to get and pretty much excludes and special makeups without preordering.

Darn. That's a nice looking shoe. I actually quite like that style of wingtip, I have to say. Enjoy those.

Indeed they did. It's very disappointing.
