1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Is it time to buy some cream? I've just been brushing out the scratches on my shoe, which are many and counting (cordovan seems to scratch like a mofo). Is that the best way to treat a scratch like this? brush and some cream?

That might be enough to actually merit wax paste...

It looks like wax is used on the mac method right? I should probably apply a minute minute amount of wax to my boots because they have been worn 15-20 times and accumulated some scratches. What brand / kind should I pick up that would best suite my Cap Toe #8?

Saphir Bordeaux is a great match in color to #8.

I'd probably use it even less than after 15-20 wears, but it's the only thing that will really cover up dings like that pictured.

Was taking one last look at the #4's before probably sending them back and noticed that there were a fair amount of color distortions on the leather, looks like the coloring went on too dark in spots. I don't have anything like this on my Ravello wingtips, which are the only other pair of shell's I have. Is this normal or should this be counted as a second. I tried taking a picture for example but it isn't as pronounced in the picture, but there are a lot of them on the boot.

I think it's just the nature of that leather. It doesn't distract from the boot in my opinion. It's probably more noticeable with the boot because the leather area is larger.

Does anyone know where I can find some PT bluchers or chukka boots in size 10 (barrie last) for less than retail?

Any way I can protect the leather soles of my alden boots while walking around the city? I tried on a pair with commando soles but I liked the profile of a leather sole way more.

I recently bought some Alden LHS Loafers and they come with a sole that have the sides finished with a black lacquer (i think thats what it is called). I think it is called the edge trim.

Is there any way to remove this lacquer? I'd much rather have the soles be the natural color

welcome to the exotic colors. it is caused in the tanning process. you may notice some black lines. also, your left and right shoe do not match 100% in the color. if it bothers you return, if not then enjoy wearing your wt boot,

You can put toe taps on them to extend the life, but leather soles on these shoes (and all "dress" shoes) are meant to be worn down and replaced

Shoe Mart seconds list maybe? I just got some chukkas of there and the flaw was very minor - I was happy to accept it for $270 off MSRP.

It's not much, but Barney's designer shoes are 10% off right now.
    Seems to include Alden.
