Loved the look of Aldens for a long time, but Ive got such a weird foot Ive been hesitant to order any online. Got a voucher to order my first pair for Christmas and went to get fitted for some yesterday. They are ordering me an 8E in the 403 Indy. Guy said it could be a week or 48 weeks before they got here depending on if they were in stock or they had to make them. Anybody here got a better answer from experience? Or will I maybe be getting them in December 2012? Hah

I use both on my shell -- Renovateur regularly for moisturizing, Venetian when a high shine is desired (less often). A good way to go. Either way, your shell will shine very nicely. Venetian will also moisturize your shell; Renovateur just does a better job and is, in my opinion, more suitable as a regular treatment.

Just bought the Day trippers this weekend. Got 1/2 size up from Barrie. They feel slightly on the longer side, but the width is perfect. I think the same size as barrie may be too snug. I think optimal is probably one width wider than barrie, but same length.

This is sound advice. If you can take C widths or lower in Alden I recommend the Grant in same size as Barrie. I was swimming in a the tts Grant

    wait, what?

he's saying that he thinks optimal grant is a size up width wise, same size lengthwise from barrie
and you're saying thats good advice, but that you think you should go the same size grant and you would Barrie?

    color me even more confused.

If your foot is on the narrower side, you may be able to do the same size in Barrie and Grant. For most "normal" feet and definitely for wider feet, size up width or length.

My feet are wider, so I wear

    9.5E Barrie
    10D Barrie, Trubalance, and Tremont
    10E Grant and Aberdeen

I don't have any Plaza or Leydon

EDIT - I believe Namor can fit into a C width Barrie but wears D width Grant, so he isn't wearing the same size in both lasts (correct me if I am wrong)

THank you, both solid options I have looked at extensively, but I'm really hoping to find it in a color closer to a walnut. I guess I'll have to just wait and watch the stores closely for any collaborations?

That is a correct answer from them about time. It can be take up to 18 months depending on the shoe and how loaded the factory is.

I just called Alden DC to find out that they are sold out of my size in the Grant lasted Cigar Captoe boot on a commando sole. (which is a damn shame because its pretty much the perfect boot)

Does anyone know of another retailer who offers a similar makeup as this?

Wow, you weren't kidding. I just checked ShoeMart....$635 now for a standard #8 LWB, and $460 for the snuff suede chukkas! I've had my eye on those chukkas for a while now, I better pick them up from somewhere else before every other retailer factors in the new pricing.
