I really am a fan of #8 and this new edge trim. I have some #8s on order (without the great brown edge trim) that should show up someday soon and I'm really going to see about letting the color develop with use. Looking forward to that. This NST looks very nice in the boot style.

Natural CXL is sharp too. Thanks for sharing photos.

Thanks guys! I look forward to seeing how the natural CXL develops with wear.

For maintenance of the natural CXL, I've read from this thread that dressings such as Montana Pitch Blend and Picard's are good in addition to some neutral Alden boot cream. Does anyone have any experience with Chelsea Leather Food on chromexcel? I have a container of it (recommended by a custom leather belt and watch strap maker) and thinking that I'll probably try it to start with.

Natty CXL is too light for my taste when new, but seems to darken up quite nicely into a color I like. I would probably try to darken them a bit right away

^ Sufu is no friend of shoe trees, apparently.

Realize this doesn't answer your specific question, but Pitch Blend (which is really nice), is definitely going to help darken the natural CXL, if that's something you are looking for. If not, hopefully someone can speak to the Chelsea or maybe Picard's is better.

I have had the natural Tanker boots from Epaulet for about six weeks now. They have spend as much time in the woods as in the office. I have used both Montana Pitch and Lexol - there is a nice semi-dark patina developing. I do not plan on using boot cream or polish, not sure about the Chelsea product - you can use a little on the tongue where it doesn't really show to see the effect - if you like it or not.

See, this is why I WILL NEVER BUY A CORDOVAN SHOE OR BOOT - they are just to darn stunning - knowing me it would end up like a heroin addiction!

I was at a church function a few weeks back and a fellow I spoke to for a while was wearing 20+ year old penny loafers in (as far as I can tell) color 8 - I couldn't begin to describe the deep beauty of that shoe. Nope - I'm not going to do it! Really!

Would you mind posting pics? Would love to see what they look like after some good use. Thanks.
