1. I'd like to announce that animated avatars are now available again. You'll have to reload, but they are once more possible.

We've been doing a ton of work behind the scenes. The site load speed was already under 1/2 of what Huddler's was, on average, and we installed cloudflare, which means that the site should be even faster. A ton more will go on in the weeks and months to come, and some things will be more visibile, and some less.

    Cheers,

    Fok.

^ love the design on these shoes however I find that Plaza creases a lot in the toe area. It seems that the Plaza last is a high volume last (generous toe box height) and thus creates more pronounced creasing than say the Grant last

These soles are very comfortable. The antique edge is fairly light. The picture may not show it great but the contrast gives them such an elegant and sleek look.

Not trying to argue with you, but wouldn't it make more sense to fix your QC issues so that shoes stop going out the door with issues rather than increasing prices to account for the labor costs incurred by fixing defects? Or are you meaning to say that people are sending their shoes back for gratuitous issues that don't actually need fixing?

Personally I take most of the defects as part of the charm of a handmade product, although the silver marker on the toe of my 403s would probably have been unacceptable if it was visible from more than a couple inches away.

Thanks. I will. As we all here at SF are well aware.... "If you’ve ever noticed women checking out your shoes before their eyes rise to scan the rest of your look, then you already know this.

The truth is that shoes make the man."

IC: I am thinking of selling my BNWB Natural Chromexcel Indy Boots w/commando sole from Leffot in 10.5 D. My first forray into the trubalance last, and I'm not sure how i feel about the fit. Come with box, shoe bags, etc.[IMG]

For retail price, I'll cover shipping in CONUS and throw in a can of the Montana pitch blend dressing I also purchased at Leffot.

My thoughts on the price increase: We can all decide for ourselves whether their shoes are "worth it" to us at higher cost, factoring in all considerations including workmanship and customer service. For me, it will certainly stretch their shoes beyond what I am comfortable spending on a regular basis. However, on balance I prefer to see them respond to this high demand by raising prices than by expanding production. I have said in the past that I am afraid they will mistakenly overextend themselves in response to what may be a very temporary resurgence in popularity. If they meet the new supply/demand equilibrium by raising prices, they can easily drop prices in the future should demand decline. If instead they kept prices constant and built a new factory on borrowed money, well that is not so easy to undo in the future. I'd rather they stay in business out of my price range than see them lever up, get in financial trouble, and end up stamping the Alden name onto crappy shoes at DSW in 10 years (a la Florsheim).

    Just my $0.02.

Never tried the plaza or grant myself, but I thought the narrower shape of the plaza (relative to the barrie or trubalance) would fit more snug and cause less creasing.

If they made those ravello captoes in boot form, I'd shart in my pants to get a pair.

Alden retailers need to use lady calf more often. My Indy's in Loden Green from Unionmade are very, very comfy. A mid-brown captoe boot in lady calf would be fantastic.
