I was waiting for someone to call me on my bullshit and had an inkling that it'd be you...But you're right, it's pretty damn douchey of me to keep doing this. This deal is the best I've seen, I'm finally gonna hop on this shit.

Thanks, and the last time I'll ask this shit :)

Just gave my Alden for J Crew Color 8 boots a good conditioning and polish before putting them away for the Australian summer.

Any suggestions on storing Horween shell cordovan over a few months?

This is what they look like now: http://thediscoursecircus.tumblr.com/post/13446747746/alden-for-jcrew - would appreciate comments from fellow SFers.

Also, anyone have any fit notes on the Alden tassel loafer on the Aberdeen last? Is this the only last it comes on? I am deciding between the Alden and the Crockett & Jones Cavendish (also available in Horween shell cordovan).

^ Put in shoe bags with trees. That's it. You can leave them out or put them in a closet.

This is a regular occurrence on my shell boots. You can buff it out, but it keeps coming back when you wear them. Most pictures on the site are after buffing/brushing. If you look at worn shell, they will have these types of markings. Don't worry about it and enjoy.

The Aberdeen last is one of Alden's narrowest - I wear a 10E in Aberdeen tassels, and they are probably the best fit of all my Aldens. I normally wear 10D in Barrie, Tremont, and Tru-Balance. I also can fit into a 9.5E in Barrie. If you have narrower feet, you can probably try a D, but I think most retailers that stock Aberdeen tend to also order E as well.

Reedo, you might want to check out the Allen Edmonds Amok if you're on a budget. They're on sale for $150 through today on their website and look amazingly like Alden's unlined chukka.

What a sweet leather! But Indy are made for bashing and roughness. I would hate to mark those up.

Also consider the Polo tassel by C&J.
This might not be too helpful now, but they were going for low $300 a few weeks ago.
Mr Porter has them on sale right now but only 30% off.

It's kind of a funky ass fit though and I'm pretty sure it's not on the same last as the Cavendish (325).
There's much debate on which last it is over in the C&J for Polo thread in the MC forum.
I ended up going with a 10US/9.5UK on the Polo tassel as compared to 10.5US/10UK in 325 last lace ups.
