1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

I'd like to know too. I've been trying to figure out if Leffot takes pre-orders for sizes other than D but no answer so far

You can call Steven, or even better, visit the store if you can. He will let you know if they can do other sizes; however, from my experience, most have been D sizes. Good luck!

YOu can send an e-mail to Colin at info@leffot.com, he let me know they are getting ready to do a reorder of the #8 LWB. I sent him a list of shoes I would be interested in if they did an order.

    +1 for emailing Colin.

Service was excellent when I dealt with Leffot earlier this year.

He seems to have a few pair released every buying cycle. Was watching last couple of months. How are they in person?

    Totally different heel shapes.

Also the one on the left looks overall slimmer. Hmm, are these really the same last after all?

You do also realize that a last comprises of not just the sole, but also the upper foot volume shape as well?

Are those cordovan LWB worth the extra 125 bucks over those calf skin jcrew LWB?

In terms of Alden's offerings and the price points, shell would be a better choice than their calf skin.

Which cordovan LWBs are you referring to? I'd say yes pretty much across the board though, IMO.

Yes if you want great shoes. No if you want to spare your wallet from the cordovan bug, it eats right through and leaves nothing left..

Your straight tip are Alden model #2161(aberdeen last). And they are not brooksbrothers straight tip.

Brooksbrothers straight tip have no heel-guard and are made by snap last(round-toe).

I've owned the shoes and found the name of last in a mail from shoemart.

The confusing point is that the shoes are Alden #2161(aberdeen last) but they have brooksbrothes stamp at the bottom.

I have had the J Crew tobacco LWB for a 2 years. It was my first Alden shoe. I wish I had gone with either the ravello or the whiskey instead. The tobacco is nice but too orangish. It can't beat either the whiskey or ravello. If you can afford the extra $200 I'd go with the shell.

So like everyone else, i'm working on my 'shell rainbow'. I'm missing Whiskey and Ravello. I'm currently on a waiting list to have my whiskey slot filled, so thats taken care of. However my Ravello slot is vacant. My only rule is i do not wish to have the same shoe design (LWB etc) duplicated in different shell. Long story short i currently have my eye on a ravello Chukka. It's beautiful BUT i already own a chukka in CXL....

My question: I know shell have more depth and shine but do you guys feel there is enough difference beween CXL and Ravello to have them both as a chukka?

    CXL

I know i'm talking to a family of guys who would have the exact same shoe just with different edge trim, so maybe this is a lost cause lol

IMO that could be the rarely seen in the wild "barrier" last…
