Received mine. Color is great, but not thrilled with the leather. Would be great with some chrome exel and oiled outsoles IMO

I tried a half size up and they were indeed too small. So, same issue.

Though, I think I might be in between on barrie sizing.

That is not very common, most seem to have to only size up a 1/2 size. I am a 5.5E on the Barrie and so far a 6E in my other lasts, including the Leydon.

The new J Crew boot. Again, great color and super comfortable. Leather similar to their waxed calf longwing while I was hoping for something a little heavier

^Those J. Crew boots look a lot better than the pictures. I'm tempted yet again. Must control myself..

RE: Indy's being work boots, but I don't know how many guys would actually shell out $400+ for them. Me thinks a 'typical' pair of work boots that are more realistic is probably some Timberland 6'' boots that costs around $100. If you're a typical blue collar American making not so much, it's going to take a long time to save up for premium work boots such as Indy's, haha.

In regards to Ford wearing them before he got his foot into the movie industry, I read somewhere that they actually wanted him to wear Red Wings in the movies, but he wasn't having it.

It appears to me that the J Crew version is about as classic an indy as can possibly be: brown chromexcel, neoprene sole, rubber heal, trubalance last. There are two versions of "brown" chromexcel that are going around, one is dark brown and another one is actually color 8. the pictures don't reveal which version of the brown the j crew one is- so i suggest buying in store.

To the Suede folks in here: i got myself some brown suede chukkas- should i try to put oil on them and make them like chamois shoes or should i spray suede protector on them.

^^ DM, you may be thinking of the Kudu leather which is dark brown, but the 403 brown chrome excel is the good stuff no doubt. If those are the Crew rough out suede chukkas I wouldn't add anything...good as is!

    Hello

the brown boots, they're from Leather Soul- very much suede, which makes them a strange customer since i hope to wear them in various conditions of snow/rain.

back to earlier post: If you look at the rancourt site you'll see the differences in the various shades of chromexcel, the indies i have rare an identical shade/texture to what rancourt describes as color 8 and are perfectly matched to Meltonian's "cordovan" paste.

    see color: Kudu v. chromexcel
