Looking to order some chromexcel indys... question about sizing, esp. as I have weird feet.

Brannock device says I'm an 8.5b, and in more athletic shoes I either wear that or a 9, but for dress shoes I tend to be a 7.5d.

    Things I own:

    Dress shoes: 7.5d on Allen Edmonds #5, 6.5e on both C&J 377 and 348
Boots: Docs I wear an 8, although the are pretty wide and maybe a tad short length-wise (big toe grazes the end initially). Katahdins I tried both an 8 and 7.5 and kept the 7.5. It's pretty snug though, but the 8 felt too loose. Guess if there were a 7.75 :) Have some Italian dress boots from RPL and they're an 8, pretty much spot on.

So 7 or 7.5? I'm purchasing from Shoe Mart so a bad guess will only cost me $8 and a week, but would be nice to guess right the first time..

I would say 7 on the Indys. I wear a half-size smaller on my Indys than I do my Allen-Edmonds #5, and I still find the Indys to be slightly looser of the two.

Watch out for that back seam. Mine busted

What a great boot. Love it. Hope you wear it good health.

Uncle, I did not know saliva could damage cordovan. Hmmm

Alden DC happened to have both in my size when I called last week. Just placed an order for the Cigar Captoe - better for most of the Boston seasons and a perfect dress boot to wear in good and bad weather. Can't wait for these to arrive. I just hope I sized right - went TTS (i.e. up .5 from Barrie sizing).

I have this boot and have been trying to figure out something to complement it as well. it's easily my favorite piece of footwear. the combination of style/flexibility (captoe), leather (shell), and practicality (dainite sole, boot) makes it really unbeatable imo.

I had the ravello wingtip boot from shoemart, which is a real stunner, but I ultimately returned it unworn b/c it was too much money for me.

I think Namor was right that cigar or #8 will end up looking similar. I am holding out hope of scoring a ravello or whiskey boot w/ commando sole from the seconds list. this is similar in style/function as the C&J, just a different color, which is what I really want. I think I could get away with those 2 boots + shell ptb + summer shoes for almost everything I do.

I figure I should be able to score one within the next 2-3 years.

    (seriously, unfortunately)

edit: I have also been considering a chromexcel boot. that would be sufficiently different to the burgundy shell. part of me thinks the variety is good, the other part just tells me to be patient and end up buying only what I really want
