I think you're going to dig them!
I wore my older ones yesterday at the shop and got lots of compliments. One guy bought a pair after seeing mine.
I put some different laces in mine which I think make them a bit cooler. Here's a picture from a while back.

Those look a lot nicer than the pair I saw that was made on the crepe sole.

Question: Why doesn't Alden take note of this and just label their shoe sizes accurately and take the guesswork, confusion and hassle out of consumers having to return shoes that don't fit properly because Alden incorrectly labels sizes for certain lasts? Why not label their sizes for all lasts true to size and stop this nonsense?
    [/quote]

What a great idea! Then Alden can just send out a little postcard to each of their thousands of happy and satisfied customers telling them that the shoes that fit them so well are now marked in the OLD standard and from now on use the NEW system and just size up a half to get the same fit that you're accustomed to.

If it was up to Alden there would be no way to get the shoes without trying them on first, which is the only way to know if they fit.. No matter how they are marked.

    986. I say true to size, but I have quasi narrow feet. I can get away with 10.5D in the barrie for shoes (not boots), but should probably wear 11. 11.5 D and C in LHS are just too long for me, and I find you gotta keep it a little on the snug size for slip ons.

    Shoe stretcher question:

Think I can stretch a D width barrie lasted cordovan shoe (or chukka) to almost an E with a shoe stretcher?

I bought a pair a few months ago from Alden of Carmel. They have the crepe sole, which makes them much more practical to wear in inclement weather.
