1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

I also have in black and burgundy calf and love the fit.
Thanks for the thoughts. The depth of the color is important. I have the "dark" brown Audley from C&J, but it is a mid brown and I had n it to be darker. I love the shoe, but just not as versatile. I'm not a big fan of bluchers with suits, it just seems too casual. I prefer the sleekness of a bal. Maybe it's just me, bcause I know thee's a lot of love for bluchers. Maybe the answer is to get the #8 and the cigar :smarmy:

just got a bonus at my job, so I'm going to pick up my first Aldens

and since these are overstock at Alden of Carmel, I can get them at $295, instead of $475, for brand new firsts

is this a good first alden? anyone have experience with this shoe? If it doesn't fit I'm going to return it for probably a cordovan wingtip, but this deal was too good to pass up

The wingtip is a solid choice, but commando sole is up to you. Definitely makes it more of a casual/bad weather shoe, which I would get in shell rather than calf. Do you already have a black wingtip?

no black wingtips - in fact, my only black dress shoes are a pair of weejuns and a really old pair of Allen Edmonds cap toe

I'll be wearing these at a university, so I don't think I need to go too formal - I'm still a grad student

Haha I got my first pair of Indys last december and already bought another pair :slayer:

Just a heads up it's on a slimmer last so if you have wider feet I wouldn't get them

NYRanger where did you get these?

im considering getting the pair from AoC but i wonder if i was to get a resole to a natural trim through b.nelson (not a huge fan of crepe) if i could get the top welt stitching changed to match or would it stay dark?

You guys are gonna love this. Last day of convalescing at home sent me to the drug store, and on my way I figured I'd see if my LS Ultimate Jumpers were ready after a refurbish with some tweaks. Take a look:

Grand total? $50. May not be the cleanest underneath, but I asked him to really stack em, and double up on what I had. The Commando Sole was a surprise but I LOVE IT. I do believe they are now ULTIMATE. Vincent Sirico (Napolitan to boot!) at 8810 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge.
