Was thinking about it (a PTB black shell is a good utility shoe to have), but really had my heart set on wingtips of some sort. That and now I'm hesitant to order any kind of blucher on a Barrie last. :paranoia:

OIC now. Nice looking pair as well.

I'll have to go and try on something with the Plaza last to see if I'd need the 11.5 or 12. Only lasts I've tried on so far are, Barrie, Trubalance, and Hampton (and I know I can't do 11.5 in the Hampton. I get the feeling that the Grant last is the compromise I'm looking for but I'd definitely be open to trying out the Plaza.

Does anyone else besides Tom at LS carry #4? Every time I see Zippy's family picture it makes me want #4 PTBs badly.

Cigar won't happen per Alden in SF. I'd be in for #8 though.

That's tempting. If I wear a 7.5B on the Hampton what do you think I'd wear on the Plaza? I have a pair of the Alden for BB wingtip balmorals on the M68 (I think) last in size 7D - Alden said they should fit like the Plaza. They're the correct length, but a bit too wide. Do you have any Plaza sizing tips Tom?

Unfortunately I'm a few sizes too small. Or thankfully I'm a few sizes too small... if you are talking to my wallet.

What do you mean? Is cigar in short supply?

Some hastily taken pics of the LS x SF shortwings (excuse the crappy carpet but it's the only part of my place that's carpeted and these babies aren't hitting any hard surface until I've decided whether or not they are worth the heel slippage)

Also, what's up with this? Anybody else have poorly fitted dovetail pads that leave gaps like this?

I definitely think we could get cigar if we wanted; there are numerous Alden retailers that would be open to such a preorder. For one, I have talked to Epaulet and they are open to such an order. My preference would be Whiskey or Ravello, but would be open to any special cordovan. If you can pm me with a headcount and your preferences, maybe we can get this rolling. I would be more than happy to talk to Mike at Epaulet; last time I talked to him, he said he would be willing to do a preorder for us, if we could get 8 - 10 firm commitments. Let me know.

bb, from the pics, the shoe appears to fit as I don't see a gap in between your ankle and the heel. anytime you are dealing with a double leather soul, you are going to get some sort of heel slippage. once you break the leather in, it'll be less stiff and the shoe will have molded to your foot. until then, youll get that slippage. this is also the case with Alden boots but its not as noticeable. I dislike double leather solar for this reason. ill take a single leather oiled sole over double leather any day of the week
