Uncle,

Those cigar captoe bluchers are excellent. I have them in #8 -- Aberdeen last.

May I ask where you purchased them?

And, nice to see them with the Bordeaux Marcolianis. My favorite pair of socks.
thank you the shoes are about five years old and i do not remember who i purchased the shoes from. Marcoliani and ben silver have the best argyles

Actually more like $800 once you subtract VAT. Of course there's still shipping and possible fedex fees to add.
There shouldn't be any customs since they're US made.

Damn, really wouldn't be that bad. For some reason I had it in my head that the bottom line on these would end up being close to a grand after everything was added up.
Wish I would have seen these prior to this turning in to a two new pair Alden shell this week.

Speaking of, my LS short wings won't be in my hands until Monday. How about some pics from those who have them already?

Yeah I'm still trying to convince myself to order the shell Tricker's from them.

Thanks to Tom, I just got these yesterday with only a 2 day wait. I got lucky that he pays attention to our posts and happened to see my post when checking stock at Alden. Thanks for the great service and the shoe trees.

+1, glad to see the calf. please post a pic once the shoe develops some sort of patina. Mr. k, what color polish do you intend to use?

Not sure yet on the polish, but I am leaning towards a darker brown to help add some patina and dimension to the leather.

good call. I think some saphir high polish in "mahogany" would look great. I tried it on a pair of C&J burnished calf boots and the results are incredible. It gave the boot a lot more character before even a single wear.

I'm on the captoe boot bandwagon today, except mine are ravello. I've noticed that on my whiskey and ravello shoes, the leather turns black where it rubs against itself. As you can see in the photo below, this is happening where the quarters rub against the vamp, as well as where the ripples in the vamp rub against each other. Does anyone know what's going on here? Is this just filthy LA air? How I can prevent or remedy it? I've tried to clean it off with Saphir Renovateur without success.

have your tried scraping it off with the back of your finger nail? I would recommend brushing the hell out of it. Aaaaargh

I'd like to see a full fit pic some time, your shoe/pant/sock combos always look great

Yeah, ditto on this, NAMOR. You should post some full fit pics.

haa, thanks guys. its mostly RRL or BBBF.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will have to get some and see how it makes them look.
