Anyone know where I can pick up a #8 NST on the Barrie last? Most of the NST I see are on the Aberdeen last.

    Thanks for the help, NYR.

I will brush them tonight. I don't want to apply the paste yet as I have probably worn each pair 5 times max. I spent some time to redo the lacing on my Aldens last night, went crisscross on them. Had the iPod playing while I was doing this, it was surprisingly relaxing.

PS does anyone use the touch up stick on darker color midsole? I can see my #8 and black cordovan's midsole looking less than desireable with enough wears.

For brushes I use different ones for each color cordovan just to be on the safe side. I have a brush for color #8, black, ravello, whiskey, cigar and lastly but not least color #4. The way I look at it is that brushes are cheap…cordovan isn't. My Alden's are always in bags in the factory box, but not in the plastic bags. As for touch up on the dressing of the soles it's a must. Here's a link to my go to heel and sole edge dressing…http://www.allenedmonds.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/producti_SF574_1_40000000001_-1

I like the little bit of character that a potential tiny transfer of cordovan gives me...:)

Thanks for the link. What colors do you get? I'm thinking of black and dark brown. I have a pair of burgundy boots that has a very dark brown midsole. Also, do you apply them on a need be basis or do you do them after every wear?

Nice looking PTBs. I've only wore mine 1 time unfortunately.

For the heel & sole dressing I play it by ear after every wear. If the the edges are scuffed a bit I apply only on the affected area. I own the natural & the black colors…the natural is perfect for the Alden antique edge trim. Also I actually prefer the travel size bottle…it's more precise for application. I want to see pics of your whiskey PTBs in the wild this week.

^I'm kind of tempted to visit the local Nordstrom to see if they would have those AE dressing. But again, it's Sunday so parking would probably suck and I believe AE offers free shipping. My shoes don't get much wear because when I go to work, I have to wear work approved non slip shoes, even though I'm management.

But after only wearing the PTBs one time, I can see different shades forming around the 'waves' already. They should patina beautifully.

For the dressings, what would you suggest I get? I think I have natural, black, and dark brown sole/midsole. The black is the worst because it shows easily..especially on the black cordovan LWBs since even the soles are painted black.

Great find. Make sure to use some sort of leather conditioner before you start to wear them.

So here is the pair of Alden shoes I bought on ebay (size 10D) that I tried to get Alden to resole. I posted that Alden would only replace the soles with what was already on the shoe. Alden sent them back to me and I took them to B.Nelson (V.I.P Shoes). The first two photos are before shots I took at the store, and the rest of the shots are after the repair. I asked for new soles with natural edge trim and the vibram commando soles.

After picking them up I was in Leffot. Steven confirmed what I thought, that they are ravello. Unfortunately I am a size 9.5E in the Barrie last and these are 10D. My heel is slipping. Don't know what if I can keep them. But I do love the new soles!
