Might be a dumb question, but does the Alden restoration program do anything with suede shoes/boots besides the standard resoling? I know for the leather/cordovan they'd re-dye it. I'd hate to drop a few bills on a pair of suede bucks or boots like l1mab3an picked up and have them get them dirty/ruined through years of wear, either from water or indigo rubbing off onto them. Thanks in advance!

I own 9D on the AE #2 last (Lombards) and 9E on the AE #5 last (Park Aves). For the Barrie last, I go with an 8.5D.

I can tell you that the Park Aves are quite possibly my best-fitting shoe. The Lombards are a bit narrow for my foot—possibly could get away with a 9E. On the Barrie last, the 8.5D is an excellent fit.

Hope this helps you guys make a decision.

So a few pages back, I posted about having concerns about the leather on my #8 chukka boots. You guys said it was all normal and to buff like hell. Well, I did so, buffing while watching a movie and a few hours of tv (with breaks. I am not a machine) and I am proud to report that they no longer look weird to me.

So the story here is, if you think your shell looks weird, just brush, brush, brush.

If I get around a camera again, I'll see what I can do.

They redyed my dark brown suede LWBs. Besides, this is something any cobbler can do.

^ Also, suede protector on a pair of new suedes is generally recommended. Meltonian has worked for me in the past.

Same socks...different shoes (yes, I need more socks...maybe Mac can sell me some rejects). Alden Tan Plain Toes. This pair of calf leather Aldens really shines and feels great.

I think that (for boots anyway) adds character to them. I like my boots a little scruffy. Same with bucks. With cordovan I'm a little different, but I don't know how much of that is on the price of the boot than it is for stylistic purposes.

    Sweet man. Enjoy!

Sorry, don't want to rub it in, but I love mine. Surely another retailer will do it, perhaps next spring?

Madon! Those are beautiful. LS Pitts?

Tom, i mentioned this to you before, but I don't mind the wait for getting exactly what it is that I want. These shoes and boots are made to last a lifetime, so whats a few years if need be. Besides, gives me more time to save up for them! I understand people who want what they want, when they want it, but i don't think they understand or appreciate what it takes to develop, produce, and then sell a special shoe. Just my 2cents.
