1. I'd like to announce that animated avatars are now available again. You'll have to reload, but they are once more possible.

We've been doing a ton of work behind the scenes. The site load speed was already under 1/2 of what Huddler's was, on average, and we installed cloudflare, which means that the site should be even faster. A ton more will go on in the weeks and months to come, and some things will be more visibile, and some less.

    Cheers,

    Fok.

    Hey Guys,

Anybody know of a Alden vendor taking pre-orders for navy blue suede long-wings? I think I may have missed Leffot by a couple of months.

    Thanks,
    Joe

    thank you.
is the leydon last shorter than the barrie? seems like if there is an extra inch of room in the toe you would want to size down as it would look like clown shoes

If I'm a 9D on the Allen Edmonds 5 last, is sizing down a half-size on the Barrie last (8.5D) good enough, or should I also go down one in width, to an 8.5C? Or will the 8.5D fit just fine in the heel area, i.e. not be too loose and cause heel slippage?

Am I the only one having a real tough time connecting to the new LS site? I'd say it's been a one in four shot that I get in.

if you don't have cankles, heel slippage will occur. i may be different, but i thought the 5 last was pretty long. my foot measures 12E on the brannock. i take an 11.5E barrie (slightly loose, but the D is too snug) and an 11EEE in the park avenue. just what fits me better. if you call someone at The Shoe Mart, they can help you with sizing because they sell both brands. One thing to keep in mind is that Alden shoes seem to all feature more toe room than most other dress shoes - most lasts are longer than the normal size would indicate. It may take a little bit to get used to this.

Yeah, but would going down to 8.5C perhaps remedy this heel slippage?

yes, but sizing down too much can mean that the foot isn't properly aligned in the shoe, eventually causing pain and possible injury

Well I hope you do more pre-orders, for some of us it is the only way to get our size, so the wait is just part of the deal.
