I thought it was just me--having shoes delivered to the office, hiding them in the trunk, bringing them into the closet after she's asleep and switching them out with older ones. She occasionally busts me and laughs, but only because she has no idea what these things cost--if she did I would be a dead man!:nodding:

Also guilty of similar behavior. Thought I was the only one this neurotic.

I use Venetian shoe cream for my chromexcel and shell, works very well.
For occasional polish use Alden paste wax for the shell, but usually brushing and buffing is more than enough.
Haven't tried polishing chromexcel yet.

This is where I'm at. After seeing Nick from Horween do this to the CXL on the right,

I'm curious to see if my 403's would take a shine similar to it. Just not sure what to use. Neatsfoot oil? Heard this was bad for the stitching (eats away at it) but it's what Nick recommended for CXL.

these look great...probably a tad big for me though. My Indy's and LWB's are both 12C. Do most Aldens fit narrower in the heel? Both my shoes are actually 12A/C, which as I understand it is a 12C width, but an A width in the heel?

the leydon last fits on the smaller side of tts. I take 11.5C in Barrie and Trubalance and got my suede Leydon last chukka in 12E. I would bet these fit, but at $320 it might not be worth the risk

Hi NAMOR,

These shoes are mine, thanks for noticing them! If you wear a 11.5D in Barrie, then these shoes are too big. I wear a 11.5 in barrie/TB, and I need a 12 in these.

they are great shoes and look new, except I wore them so the sole isn't perfect. They were my first Alden purchase and I did not understand the difference between US athletic shoe sizing and US dress shoe sizing. Living in LA, I have a whole lotta nikes and that, but just now got started on the aldens.

I still have trouble believing that I wear a 11.5 in anything since I have always worn 13. Old habits die hard I guess.

Anyway, like I said in the ad, when I sell these, I am turning around and getting a 12 in the exact same shoe from Bryan at LeatherSoul BH!

Good point....The store where I bought the LWB's has a pretty decent stock of Aldens, so I'll try on some different lasts there to see what size I would need in the Leydon. Do you know how they would compare to something like a Clarks DB? I had a pair of DB's in a 13D and those were definitely too big.

Yeah, I used to wear Nikes/Jordans all the time, and I was a 14 in most of those, so it still blows my mind sometimes that I need a narrow 12 to fit into a real shoe, haha.
