Well, I’ve been bitten by the LHS bug.

New arrival: Leffot’s Penny Loafer in Brown Alpine Grain. (Excuse the crud on the soles; I’ve been breaking theme in around the house tonight and stepped on some cat litter—clean, that is, while topping off the box.)

Spoke with both Benjamin and Steven yesterday/today. Lovely gents.

What’s next? Suede?

I have an extensive set of penny loafers and IMHO Alden by far has the best looking hand sewn seam - I have found that the vamp in loafers made from grain leather creases less than boxcalf - these are nice looking enjoy!

That’s really helpful. I appreciate the response. I don’t own a single pair of boots but the picture you posted was almost exactly what I would order if I was getting a pair of boots. I’ve been scouring all the named sources from this forum for rare shell - and after this post from you, I’m going to require the commando sole. The gentleman in Seattle sent me a really nice email and let me know that they have a make up that I like that’s going to be double leather, but they could switch them in the shop once they come in. I’m not sure if I want to do that.

Careful my-man. Alden shell boots are truly like Lay’s potato chips……….

I’ve always had somewhat of a love-hate relationship with wings. Look great on others, just doesn’t always mesh with my style. But on the good side now but I knew that my recent edition would cause a decision regarding my only previous wings in the stable. After much internal consternation and deliberation, it suddenly, like a bolt of lightning, hit me and added needed clarity. Wear em………

Not the best pic’s but hard to mess up C4 Wings on Grant. Time for Saturday runs. Have a great weekend Gang!

What a bizarre question… And boy do I have a bizarre answer, buddy.

I reached out to Alden a couple of years ago with the same problem. Brenda at customer service gave me two replacement boxes. And, the best part, I actually picked them up at the factory (granted, she met me at the door, and I was not allowed in lol).

I probably wouldn’t mention that you’re going to be selling them. But for a collector who likes boxes? They were very nice to me.

Wish Alden would open up the factory for a special tour like AE does for their annual PATP.

If I wear Crockett Jones Boston loafers in size UK7,5E, what would be my size for Alden Aberdeen full strap loafers? Thanks.
If it’s helpful. I have several pairs of Boston loafers. I wear a 10 1/2 UK in a G fitting which is like EEE - and in Alden I wear an 11 Wide in the van last (not EEE). But in Barrie I wear 10.5 EEE…so I would think an Alden 8 in regular width would work (because the van last is so roomy)

I can’t go down that rabbit hole right now. I live in California. My daughter starts college next year and I thought she was going to go to one of the UC’s - but since she really wants to work in finance, she’s decided that she’d like to go to school in New York City. So I may be selling some shoes - LOL

I kept going back to this post. I really like the look of Alpine grain. I’m hoping the color leans towards the orange hue I’m seeing in the picture. I looked up Leffot - I didn’t realize they were such a well-known store in New York City. Of course, they had an 11 E in stock and I just ordered a pair of these. I can’t wait to have them - a little early holiday present for myself.

Hooray!

They aren’t as orange as the tan alpine, but they are more orange than brown.

Here’s a closeup under a lamp.
