Just picked these up today. Excited to wear tomorrow! Alden Leisure Handsewn Penny Loafer in color 4 shell cordovan. Grabbed at Harrison Limited in Mountain Brook, AL...
Wow thats a stunning pickup! I honestly never realized HL did special makeups for their shop at al. I used to browse their website and only ever saw Alden standard offerings. Always figured it was just one of those smaller shops that only carried the basics.

Feels like it’s been a while since I’ve posted any pics but the MV of these Ravello TB Plain Toes was enough to get me off the sidelines.

Aram swapped the brass hardware and added integrated toe taps. Indoor and outdoor shots……

These have been sitting for close to a year. Nice to take them out for a spin.
So rich in the sunlight - I looked at Aram's site - what a great cobbler!

Hi there

I often read about sizing between unlined suede and cordovan loafers. Some people advise to go 1 width down because unlined suede stretch out with time.
The official recommandation of Alden is to go for the same size, because they build cordovan loafers a bit wider knowing that it will not stretch. The 2 pairs apparently fit the same at the end.

what is your opinion ?

Thanks

Maybe the aren't able to put those online? They typically move pretty quick once the rare ones arrive.

Same size for me. Suede does fit tighter than shell at the begging, but stretches more. Shell fits about 1/4 size larger but doesn’t stretch as much, so after breaking in they should fit about the same.

BTW even though shell does not stretch as much it does mold to your feet somewhat. It’s a tough material but pliable.

My latest acquisition - dark brown suede LHS (6245F). I recently bought a pair of snuff suede LHS (6243F) and loved them so much I decided I needed a dark brown pair. My snuff pair is 8D and they fit well with some heel slip. They fit very well at first but stretched a bit. Decided to try out a half size down to 7.5D on the dark brown pair and I can already tell it’s a superior fit for me. I’m 8.5 Brannock, so it turns out that I have to size down a full size on the Van last. I know that’s not unheard of, but the conventional wisdom is to size down a half size from TTS on the Van last. Feet are weird.

How does Snuff Suede handle heavy rain? I walk to work and it's pretty common for the tips of my shoes to get constant rain. My reverse chamois indys hold up just fine in this condition due to how oily and neppy it is. But I was wondering if Snuff Suede also would, maybe it's best I go with CXL for this makeup.
