Has there ever been a shortage of the LHS? Has Alden always been able to make enough to meet demand for the most part?

No there hasn’t really been a shortage of LHSes in my experience. There may be times where a size may not be available at a particular shop and a backfill available at the factory, but there are many shops and one is destined to have it if is a ”catalog” or standard shoe. Alden has always prioritized their catalog shoes though. You can always do an “add to run” to have a model made for you, regardless of size as long as they have the last and pattern to do it. For the past few years, they have been short on hand stitchers, which has definitely impacted the special orders, to include the special LHSes.

Some consider these boots "hideous" but I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Dark navy cxl on the 379x.

With the contrasting laces, these "hideous" boots are easier on the eyes. Lol! Jk!

I absolutely love these and it's not because of the 9 eyelets. Hoping more colors of CXL are in the pipeline at Alden.

Anyone know of retailers that easily ship to Europe/London and carry the 986s in a 6D, who also accept returns?

Also, what's the sizing rule for the loafers compared to your Brannock device size?

Cheers!

So starts the first of many pre-orders placed in either 2022 or 2023 to finally start landing. Really could've used this boot with all the rain we've been getting these past few months in California, but better late than never!

LaRossa's "The Beast" Indy boot in tobacco reverse chamois and heavy lug sole. Hard to tell, but the eyelets and hooks appear grey (almost greenish) and compliments the binding. Plan on breaking these out this week with rain in the forecast!

In my opinion, Van last is roomy.

A full volume feet in standard D width would only need to go down 1/2 a size from Brannock.

A lesser volume (shallower) feet in standard D width? That’s where it gets interesting. Maybe down 1/2 a size and width. Maybe down 1 size. Maybe you add a tongue pad and it works. But with Cordovan there’s gonna be some trial and error.

If for some reason the Van last is not for you, then may I suggest other lasts like Leydon, Copley, or Grant? Obviously you miss out on hand stitching from LHS but fit is important.
