Same here @audog. Finally got to use my 2-year old EGO Snow Blower. Brought it two years ago and it broke during my second use. Took the entire winter to get it fixed (Covid supply chain issues) and last winter it sat in the garage unused. My second EGO snow blower and this one’s a beast.

I know you’re an EGO owner (or was) so I figured I’d share.

Ok gents, back to shoes……..

Still am an Ego owner, mower, snowblower, chainsaw (for which I have no use at new house). Snow was too wet and heavy and not deep enough for EGO yesterday, but I did try it out to see.

Right. I tried to arrange a fitting at several stores in the (very broad NE/ NY) area and got nowhere. Ended up ordering them from Alden Shop San Francisco. They came in today - look and feel just right. Never sported such a fine boot before, they are tremendous. Heavy duty too. God bless the USA makers.

Wow, those #8's just look so clean! The pink trousers really bring out their shade nicely.

The 6 inches of snow had to be traversed today so it required my best boot on all terrain soles. They are beasts.

Anyone have insight into sizing the leydon last loafer? I’m coming to terms with my heel being too narrow for the van last, but the info I’ve found from different shops is very inconsistent. I measure 11.5 and 11 on brannock, but like a snug fit. Also wondering, does this model need to stretch to fit comfortably, like LHS? Thanks!

I also have narrow heels. My Brannock is 6.5D with a shallow feet.

While trying out for best fit with Yenni at the Brick Mortar in Seattle, she too recommended the Leydon last since it accommodates shallow feet and has a narrower heel than the Van last.

The comfiest was the Chukka unlined suede 1493 in size 6D. It wrapped my feet nicely like a sock. I suppose going down 0.5 size in Leydon was fine (even though it’s supposed to be true to size) since unlined suede is forgiving.

I can’t tell you much about other leathers. Perhaps cordovan will be a touch less forgiving, with it being a shell and all.

Have you tried going down half a size in a narrower width in the Van last?

Happy Sunday Gentlemen! I hope that you all are doing well and having a great 2024 so far! I am so fortunate to have recently welcomed two new pairs into my stable in no other than Color #2 Shell Cordovan!

The first is the Jumper Boots offered by my good friend at Ealdwine! These came out incredibly!!!

The second is a special LWB made by Alden SF with Mahogany Edges, fostering a nice contrast with the upper.

Nothing on loafers but my Leydon butchers fit me TTS, like most Alden lasts. I have a 9D in Leydon and the same style in an 8.5D Barrie. Both fit fine.

I have a pair of Whiskey Penny’s on the Leydon. It fits more TTS and is frankly more friendly than the Van is on the vamp. Hope that helps some!

Has there ever been a shortage of the LHS? Has Alden always been able to make enough to meet demand for the most part?
