@sazon I quite like the blue ones, but I would have a darn hard time pairing them with anything.

Tried these in store. Alden 986. Do they look like the fit alright? Nothing feels uncomfortable. Just worried that it looks weird (first loafers). I have flat feet with almost no arch, so I understand this may be an issue with any sizing I go with. Thanks guys!

It is hard to say anything based upon the pictures, but it doesn't look like a bad fit for what that is worth.

Thanks for your thoughts! Love your collection by the way. Yeah I’m mostly concerned by the width and how my feet are kinda bulging on the sides.

I understand it’s hard to get an idea of fit and feel off photos and online, but was hoping people could give their thoughts purple from an aesthetic or visual point of view. The actual feel of the shoes felt alright.

You just unfortunately don’t have a narrow back half of the foot due to your arches. That’s common fit for people with feet shaped like what yours appear to be.

Do they bow out real bad when you walk? Do they slip at the heels? Unfortunately you won’t be able to test that until they become non returnable as you’ll probably crease them.

I, too, have flat feet and this is how my loafers look. Main issue for me is heel slip. As long as these loafers fit secure and aren't flopping around, that's most important. They also appear to fit you well, so if they're comfortable on your feet and they're secure, then it looks like you found your size. Curious what your Brannock size is and the size of these loafers? Van last?

No bowing, but obviously I wasn’t able to walk around normally as I tried them in store.

There is some heel slippage but was told that it goes away and gets better as you wear them?

Brannock size is an 8E. I’ve tried on a calf skin pair of leisure hand sewns at 7.5E, but experience some bowing on the left shoe. This is my attempt at buying my first pair of loafers so not exactly sure on my perfect van last size.

Having done both the 7.5E and 7.5D. I feel as if the D width is a better fit. I don’t think an 8 would work at all. I’ve thought about a 7E, but fear the bulging could be worse?

I'm a long time Barrie last fan, but really want a pair of Aldens built on the 379x Military Last.

Has anyone tried or owned both and can comment to their differences in daily wear? I love the wide toe box of the Barrie, while it being narrow enough in the heel to not slip around.

I wear my loafers without socks, and I've gotten good results going a full size down from Brannock with Van last. The only issue is they fit like glove tight. But stretching them with oversized shoe trees has helped my pink toes a lot. Loafers are tricky, but good thing there are tongue pads and heel pads to help keep your foot locked in.

I have a high arch and narrow heel, the toe box is generous, and the 379x fits me perfectly; whereas, the Barrie (in the same size) is too wide, too long, and my heel slips. If I “size down” as retailers suggest, the insole doesn’t fit correctly under my arch, and I still don’t get the heel comfort of the 379x. I wear a 10D. Hope that’s helpful…
