Curious what people's experience with Alden restoring rare shell shoes are like? Do they also redye the uppers or refinish them in anyway that changes it's color?

I had a pair of Cigar restored, but I told them not to touch the uppers, only to resole/heel, sicklier. It's possible they changed the welt too, but I'm not sure. They did exactly as asked and left the upper untouched.

I've mainly worked with Jim. I met him and Larry before COVID, but since haven't seen Larry. On my last visit, I met Sam (he used to work at AE, apparently).
