On my quick 40hr trip to PHX I packed just my Arabica Lux PTB from LaRossa. These suffered a few minor scuffs, but the Arabica Lux is meant to patina in this manner. They handled the 100+ degree heat with ease and the double Waterloc Soles held up just fine!

Thanks to instagram I realized what my next Alden purchase is. Somewhere there exists rare shell makeups of the George boot. I didn’t realize how amazing such a simple boot could look. Any other real world pictures of these out there?

It is certainly a very cool boot. The only version I’m aware of is made by Adam and AoC. Made in whiskey shell on the Plaza last. I used to own it and at the time wasn’t a fan of Plaza. But it’s a really cool boot if you can get it.

Good to know. The makeup I saw was on Barrie and reportedly around 30 years old. Recently got my first pair of Alden’s on Barrie and it is possibly my best-fitting last of any brand.

Way back in a day Alden of Carmel ran a Whiskey shell george boot on Grant: https://www.aldenofcarmel.com/the-alden-of-carmel-story/?IID=62

It appears they may also have been run on Barrie in Whiskey at some point, although not 100% sure if these are actually the same Grant ones as the AoC version: https://aldenmodelproject.com/alden-9194/

They've also been done in Ravello on Barrie, but again, a long time ago: https://aldenmodelproject.com/alden-9184/

IIRC, Adam also did a Plaza Whiskey George in 2019 or so
