In the LeaterSoul Choco Tankers today. These combine several things I love about Alden - the NST pattern, Barrie last, Alden suede, eyelets and hooks and the Commando sole.

Very nice. Is Adam winding down his shop? I noticed Yenni and Mack have taken some of his inventory and his current stock is very limited. Sad if so, but he paved the way for many.

I'm not sure about Adam winding down his shop, but I did get some insight from Yenni this past summer. Finally got to visit her shop in Seattle after years of online purchases, really cool to meet her in person. I noticed a lot of AoC's "last call" stuff on her shelf. She said they are finding that last call stuff does much better in person, in her store, than it does online. He had a fair bit of it so she agreed to sell it in her store and he took it off his website.

I think she's done that for a while too.

I hope Adam is doing well - he's definitely a cornerstone of the Alden community

I love the variations of CXL and how it ages.
I think it caught me off guard a little bit. I got 401s first and had them for a couple of years and, not really thinking about the different leathers, expected these CXL guys to age in the same ways. I'm not someone who goes for pristine by any means, so the aging process will be fun to watch.

CXL is a different "animal", so to speak, from any other leather...CXL is a crapshoot, I have some pair that are 10 yrs old and look like almost new, and others that are 10 months old and creased/bent/beat to ****...I love this leather for boots.

Want to vent about my 8 year wait for some ravello plaza indy boots from Frans Boone. I put down a deposit for half the price of the boot back in 2014 because the ravello shell was "confirmed" and the boot would ship within a couple months. Well there were "problems with the shell" and they are waiting for the hides.

I emailed them on average twice a year until I received a reply in 2017 regarding a makeup of cigar NST boots. FB told me they had a pair in my size and I could claim it because the ravello indys were taking so long. He told me to keep it on the downlow. Well I emailed them back immediately to claim them. I don't hear back until I receive an email a week later saying they were claimed. Slap #1 to the face.

From 2017 to 2021 I email them about once a year. Every year they emailed back saying they are "waiting on the shell". Well I emailed them yesterday and received a response that they were allotted some ravello shell but they were used on some PTBoots. Slap #2 to the face.

Is it just me or does this seem really dishonest? Why hold a 320 euro deposit for a boot they were never serious about making?

I'd guess that you aren't going to be getting those boots... You should just ask for your money back at this point.

was fortunate to be included in an upcoming Color 4 boot run... now i need a belt!
any recommendations for a color 4 belt (does not have to be shell) or something that is at least in the same ballpark of shade / color? prefer a somewhat rugged belt (non-dressy) with silver buckle as this will be worn primarily with jeans.

thx in advance for any and all help on this!

You could get one from Carmina. They do custom belts which you could get in C4, but they're expensive.
