It's a boot day as I prepare to meet the demands of significant snowfall.

Hi all,

this is my first post here on the forum, nice being here!

I am in the market for my first pair of Aldens (second hand here on the forum most likely due to my budget). I am divided between NST boots or Indy’s in shell #8 / Black. So I guess boots on Barrie OR Truebalance last.

As I live where I can not test the shoes (Sweden) I am in dire need of some guidance/guesstimates on sizing on the Barrie last for me and I ask kindly for help from you :)

I have some info below that is what I have to go on:

  • I have UK 9 in Yanko boots (W934 last)
  • I have UK 7,5F in my Loake Buckingham (these are very snug even with a thin dress sock)

if it helps, my US feet size, and measurements, from a 3D scanning in thin socks are as follows:
LEFT 9.8C
RIGHT 10.6C

Heel-to-toe length:
LEFT: 270mm
RIGHT 277mm

Ball width:
LEFT: 100mm
RIGHT: 100mm

Instep height:
LEFT 63mm
RIGHT 63mm

Heel width
LEFT 68mm
RIGHT 67mm

kind regards
/Max

Has anyone been on a "confirmed" waitlist for >3 years? I've been on the Fransboone waitlist for Plaza Ravello Indys since 2014 and MrSid waitlist for Cigar Indy's since 2018. Does this really take this long?
Well it could really take that long. You are on lists for very specific make ups and there’s no saying those particular shops will ever run those make ups again. Frans Boone could have been allotted ravello multiple times since 2014 and choose to run something different. I’m not familiar with Mr Sid so I’m assuming they are a smaller shop and would get less exotics allotted to them compared to say B&M or Alden Madison.

At this point given how long it’s been I wouldn’t expect to still be on the list unless you keep in contact and have continued to purchase from them. I don’t know, I just don’t see Frans Boone having a list with peoples name from 8 years ago in case they ever run a plaza ravello indy again.

I feel like people don’t want to hear it, but really, the easier and cheapest way is to pay the mark up on the secondary market. Cigar Indy’s in particular are pretty common and unless you have a very unusual size you could probably find one for a few hundred bucks over retail new or if lightly used then basically retail price.
That type of waiting list is similar to taking a sh#t and then realizing that you do not have any butt paper...

It's no good.
Let's not forget about the Epaulet Ravello Wingtip Boot waiting list from 2010... :D

So I emailed Frans Boone. Asked for an update and to refund me if they are still "awaiting" shells. Why do these stores do this? It doesn't feel honest.

Happy Monday forum pals. Christmas is rapidly approaching for those who have not started to shop. People with a closet full of nice shoes better not show up Christmas morning empty handed. Your "special someone" may not receive that as well as one would hope.
