Non-Alden question gents. Lots of good opinions here which I value a great deal. Im thinking about picking up a pair of Chelsea boots. Past 4 years, I've only purchased Aldens but I'd like to try a different style. Any brand/maker you suggest? Thanks!

Apologies if this is not allowed. I have a (basically like new condition) pair of shell color 8 PTB up for sale. I feel like I have priced them correct? I ain't getting much interest, I guess I thought they would've sold by now. How long would they usually take to sell? they have been up for around a month.

For 8 (and increasingly for rares) my rule of thumb is the baseline is 1/2 of retail. I rarely list 8 higher regardless of condition. I will often list lower though not by much as most of what I sell is in pretty good shape. In your case, I think you also have to consider the make as post-Covid seems to have moved the masses to a more casual dress code. In your case you may be fishing in a smaller pond than normal.

They are priced much too high to be honest. For a worn stock model you’re going to have to drop the price by quite a bit.

There are a ton of options out there. A lot of value in Spanish made brands. TLB is making me an MTO Chelsea in box calf on Artista Goya last. Cobbler Union does good shoes and boots for reasonable money. What's your style? Do you have any fitment challenges?

I've had some non-shell things up for over 4 months before, in fact have a pair of saddle shoes right now that have been up that long, but they are a seasonal item. Usually shell moves rather quickly depending on style and price.

I am selling pair of black shell NST in 10D (a popular size), with a brand new resole. They look almost unworn. I am asking $300 and haven't gotten a single response about them. It's been a couple weeks

Edit: also, I am also selling a pair of color 8 shell perforated cap toe boots in 9.5D (a popular size) NIB unworn. I am asking $575 and haven't gotten a serious offer in a year.

I agree with others in that they are priced higher than what the market will accept for a worn stock pair.

Thanks for the input everyone. Would $450 be a fair offer then? or is that still too high?

Actually got lucky and they sold for $505 on gr__led* just now after dropping the price 10%.

Thanks for the reply! I've been strictly an Alden customer for the past few years and typically stick with boots. I'm a 9D in TB and Barrie. No unique fitting challenges. I've been looking at Vibergs and Grant Stone. Not interested in anything too formal. I'm typically a smart casual kinda guy. Any recommendations?
