Finally got my 405 Indy boots in and on my feet today. Size 9B/D as my Brannock is 9.5 D. The fit is great except..... The right boot "huffs" and/or "exhales" as I walk, making an unusual noise whenever I step forward.... Only the right boot does this.

Will their go away with break in or will a slim insert soak up enough volume that the boot will stop "huffing" with each step?

Otherwise they look and feel amazing. I had a used 403 pair that I can't remember doing this.

Thanks

Is the noise from the front, or heel of the boot? I ask because I had a pair that did that and it was an issue with the heel stack. Got it fixed by dealer for no charge.

The front (I'm pretty sure), probably a volume thing. Unusual that only the right boot does it.

A little late on the QC comments but in my dozens and dozens of Alden purchases my only unacceptable QC issue with with a purchase from Leffot years ago. It was their C8 Tanker and I was really new to the game. I often wonder if, given my more realistic expectations, if receiving the same boot today would be a problem for me. Maybe just luck of the draw. I think @JSO1 nailed it with his comments and it is really a theoretical discussion without pics. Having said all of that, these are bad and should not have been sent......

Not the OP, but I have had a few bad issues recently and they were not factory seconds.

Outsole trimmer, or stitcher, or both, gone berserk on 4011HC. There wasn't much welt left really and some stitches were stripped.

Awful clicking on 3912, leather was thin and brittle.

Unrelated, excuse the two-birds (with the 2nd bird being spam), one-stone post as I want to share some new-to-me Ravello Dovers from LeatherSoul. A special make released as a part of their 10th Anniversary collection. They are the pair on the left. I now have five pair of ravello footwear. Five pair! Geez, that's just too many. Which leads me to the spam. I am reducing the price on the Unworn Barrie Splits on the right to $975 net to me. They are on ebay and in the Alden B/S/T thread.
