Email from TSM when I signed up for rare shell list.
View attachment 1606150
I don’t remember receiving this message from the shoe Mart when I signed up about three years ago, but it’s hard to disagree with the content of their message.

It took a while for my name to come up in the TSM system, but damned if they didn’t contact me about a rare shell offering a little while ago. So, folks who have signed up but haven’t heard yet, your turn will come

I am an Asian (cheers) but in the states. It did cost me like 10 pairs of FD before I finally put my hand on their (tsm) rare...while zero regular to a rare in aodc. The policies are there and varied, but the most thing matter should be the timing of your mail/call (and of course your spending matters).
Yep, Indian (as in from India) living in Singapore for the last 12 years.
I don't hold it against TSM, policy is policy and I can always politely ask again. There are other retailers and Alden owned stores who replied positively to my requests for inclusion on rare shell lists and I am in no hurry. All in good time as there are other pairs already in hand which need to be worn and enjoyed.

Random question but has anyone found a good solution for shoe transport? I’d like to pack more than 2 or 3 pairs for vacation, but not have to pack them in my suitcase with my clothes. a shoe-only carrying case doesn’t really seem to be a thing per my cursory online search. Any recommendations/ leads would be appreciated!

Edit: imagining something like this that is not $13,000. https://www.redroseparis.com/produi...k-louis-vuitton-shoe-caselouis-vuitton-trunk/

Check Tumi, I’ve seen they have a shoe duffle that’s about the size of a personal item.

I found this, but it may be a little large. Link. The three dividers are adjustable. $100.

The Shoe Snob used to sell plastic shoe trees, which I found very useful to travel with. I'm not sure he does anymore.

Isn't one of the primary benefits of cedar for shoe trees its ability to pull moisture? Doubt plastic would be able to do that but could be wrong. Fwiw I've never had any issues getting cesar shoe trees through airport security.

I suspect the main benefit of the plastic trees is that they are very light weight relative to cedar. I recently came upon a pair of plastic ones as well and decided to keep them for this very reason. I don't think they are as good as cedar for the very reason you cited but for travel purposes they are ideal.
