I have a question about the Thomas heel and Truebalance lasts. This might be easiest for people to answer who have both the Indy 403 and a chromexcel Indy with a commando sole. Do you find that the Thomas heel gives you a more snug (in my mind better) fit than the commando?

I was wondering if Alden fits the last to the heel, and as a result you get an overall superior fit with the Thomas heel. I have one Truebalance lasted boot with a Thomas heel and it fits beautifully. My other three Truebalance shoes are kind of all over the place in fit with the commando, but in general looser heels with more heel slip. Since I don't really have a matched leather-heel comparison, its a little hard to say if its the heel or the leather. Certainly the Thomas heel seems thinner than the commando.

Thank you.

You raise some good points regarding fit. I believe heel size/shape, sole material, upper material, upper pattern etc.... are all significant factors affecting how a shoe or boot may fit.

Happy Sunday forum pals. It's a great day for cooking outside this afternoon. Off to the store.

Some oddly darkened natural CXL Brixtons. Almost 10 years old but I've only worn them a handful of times and they've spent most of that in the box.
