So tempted to get these as my first Alden Indy boot. I recently retired my only real boot which was the LL Bean Men's Katahdin Iron Works® Engineer Boots v1 because they no longer fit.
I had those boots. They had a great life, but gave up the ghost after about 10 yrs of really hard use. From what I've read, they are not the same as they once were. Original was a Chippewa boot, now made offshore?

Is that the barrie or 379x last?

I'm slowly getting motivated to purchase a pair of longwings.

Honestly, I've come to love my Indy boots dearly that any Indy boot makeup is a great first boot or a first foray into Indy boots.

I had a similar experience where the security guy gave me a funny look when I mentioned the steel shank in my Alden’s was setting off his wand. He called over another guard who took a look at my shoes and said to the other one, “He’s wearing those GOOD shoes”, and then let me through. Without saying anything, I looked at my wife and smiled to confirm why I love Alden shoes to which she responded back to me with an eyeroll :p

Sir, you have reached bad ass level for sure.

Yes, I had V1 which was Chippewa. The V2 is offshore and not as well made.
I had V1, and they were tanks, took everything I could throw at them and more...kind of like my old 405's, just keep going, no matter what I dish out.The LLBeans got donated to charity, the 405's are still trucking right along, overall a better boot IMHO.

Mine were well worn but they don't fit anymore. The black mark on the left toe is from motorcycle shifter use.

Savvy, those Modified Gunboats are looking good. It is always fascinating to me to see the Gunboat pattern not on the Barrie Last. To my knowledge, Alden will no longer do the LWB on anything other than Barrie (or Modified). Very cool!

TC, those Ravello Gunboats are looking great on Wingtip Wednesday! Those are superb!

Wedge sole Wednesday?
Chonkmaster indys on their Maiden voyage (which these days means pacing around the study, kitchen and living room). Need to walk them some more to get used to the soft feeling and height of the wedge sole.

Darkishhaddock, those Indys are looking great! Love the boots and hope that you are enjoying the softer/lighter comfort that the wedge is supposed to bring.
