Hard to say. Everyone’s feet are different, even those with the same size and width. Your instep is a big factor here.

I take the same size & width in Barrie and Van. I’m already going 1 down from Brannock in Barrie so there’s really no room to go down further. I always consider going to an E in Van, but with some slight heel slip already in a D, it never seems like a good idea. I can’t go any narrower, either. Drives me bonkers to wear ‘em really tight.

I prefer the non-shell, unlined loafers for summer in NYC. Shell gets a little warm for me. I’m a big fan of the flex welt CXL LHS (though not for doing a lot of city pavement pounding). Nevertheless, if you’re in air conditioning a lot or up at altitude or in Canada or something, shell is probably fine.
Thanks for guidance... I likely will be sitting at the outdoor bar at the yacht club, overlooking a lake into Canada. I won’t be doing much walking in them. I guess with heat and alcohol and my feet swell it likely would be better to err on the side of caution with a larger size, or more specifically, don’t size down.

Now I just stuck my bare foot in my Barrie last boot... I have maybe an inch to the tip and my foot definitely has a little wiggle room, especially in the heel. And it is at the end of the day so my foot is likely a bit bigger. I may need to go to a store and try on a loafer.

I agree 100%.

For pavement pounding, I want to get the kudu loafer with rubber sole or the all weather walker with crepe sole or oiled nubuck PTB with rubber sole (or maybe all three of them).

Trying them on is always best. The Van has a low vamp, and there’s that strap, so wiggle room in Barrie doesn’t necessarily translate to a floppy fit in Van. The heel can definitely be a bit of an issue in either. So yeah, try them on.

Sounds like you’ll be in a perfect setting for the LHS. Good luck!

Oh I agree, have never, repeat NEVER, had a bad experience with phone orders (I live too far away for in person) Great store, great staff, but web site might need some improvement...

Have you tried a different browser? Some sites have trouble with Safari (I'm on a Mac), so I keep Firefox and Chrome on ready just in case a purchase fails.
