Does anyone in the UK know how/where to get a pair of Indy boots re-soled or even just re-heeled? Are there any options besides shipping them to Alden in the US, which I imagine would be expensive?

Neocork soles in decent shape but Foot Balance heels have worn down to the metalwork at a couple of points.

Thanks

Unless they already placed the pre-order, it's generally easier to get D (standard) than E, at least in the states. FWIW, I haven't found that shell vs non-shell shoes are lasted differently, but I have noticed that shell doesn't stretch as much.

To be honest, your sizing seems to be all over the place. You say a 7D on the Hampton and a 6.5D on the Barrier both fit perfect, but you're now looking at a 6.5E AND a 6E, so I'm honestly a little confused.

That being said, if you really think that the 6.5 fits perfect, you should proceed with that. However, you should consider:
  1. Wearing the same socks that you would typically wear with those shoes
  2. My (and I suspect others) feet will splay because I stand/walk a lot. So if I'm trying on shoes early and it's pretty snug, I may consider the next size/width up
Would also say that I'm pretty consistent in my size (i.e. 6.5 across all Alden lasts except TB) but there are variations on each shoe. I usually adjust with different weight socks to help with the fit.

I am a little confused too thats why i'm hoping I could be enlightened here.? The 7 Hampton and the 6.5D Barrier I tried in the shop. But the shop was the one that recommended a 6.5E for pre order on the Cordovan since they said it doesn't stretch much compared to other leathers thats why they wanted me to order the 6.5E to be safe. Hence the confusion also on me since I was a 6.5D on the Barrier.

Regarding the 6.5 D Barrie lasted 6.5 D.....you were wearing the sock type you expect to wear with these shoes, and walked around the shop finding the fit to be perfect ? If so, 6.5D is your size for that shoe/pattern, no matter which upper material.

I have noticed no difference in my Barrie fit between shell and non-shell. I do not think the advice you are receiving about going up one width in shell is the best, especially if the 6.5D fits you well.

Alden San Francisco will sell the toplift direct to consumer for $20/ pair (intended to be installed by one’s local cobbler). Don’t know if they ship to UK (they don’t ship shoes, if I recall correctly), but it may be worth the ask…

I think the SF and DC factory stores do ship internationally (at least they state so on their sites), so I'm pretty sure your idea about ordering the top lift is possible for fellow member.

Thanks all, much appreciated.
